We spent a bit of time up there drinking beer before trekking down. The hike down was a lot faster. If you ask me, I would never do it again. Too hot, dusty, tiring... watch your boss. Baka may balak magpakamatay. Btw, Taal erupted a week later.
I found it hard to walk on sand nga, esp since I was wearing ordinary sneakers.

I also have no plans of doing it again but I wish there were other easier places to hike to and experience nature. Lakas ng endurance ng boss ko, parang hindi na affect ng init. Yung mga asians ang mga pagod pero yung mga caucasian mukhang enjoy pa

That is what I am thinking but the shoes are too thick for tahi

The shoes were about 3 years old (right before I started my PhD) and have walked practically the whole Taal island and then some. Seems fitting for the sole to give out just in time. Luckily I always carry zip ties hehe.

Hiking trails I really like are all in Camp John Hay, the Eco Trail & the much longer Yellow Trail. Imagine hiking in the pine forest, cool weather with the smell of pine along the way.
I haven’t tried trails in Subic yet, having second thoughts because of the monkeys.

Are there places to hike na patag lang? Hahaha. I had no idea that it makes such a difference if it's not patag.

Agree on the monkeys. They scare me (used to go to my cousin's house in Subic a lot in the 90s)

Not in Baguio, I’m afraid. The hikes in CJH are not steep, they just go up, down & wind a lot. It is so enjoyable, though, because of the climate & the air is so fresh.
