somebody's selling me 2003 Altis 1.6G A/T 10km/L FC, 55K odo for 400,000 and 2006 Picanto LX M/T 11K odo for 300,000. Runaway picanto ba dapat ito or pagiisipan pa ng mabuti? Both are well-maintained. Personal use, city driving.

What's your opinion?

Bought the above Picanto for P270,000...Thanks for everyone's advice. You might have seen my posts in the hyundai and suzuki threads and i ended up getting a picanto. The threads really helped me a lot. It's like reading an archive of real life experiences. Thanks again!

That being said, let me just say that i read the picanto thread over and over already and got several points that i would like to inquire again.

The unit i bought is 2006 1.1 manual (on the DENR sticker on the right lower corner of the windshield says "issued ?/?/2004). I dont know if this means that the car is really 2004 model. Manual windows, no central lock, no alarm, black grille with vertical fins. (Does anybody know?)

Anyway, i read in the posts that there were recalls/replacements of crankshaft bolt(?), gas tank vapor recycler(?) for several owners here. The previous owner of this car probably didnt accomplish this, if ever it was necessary.

Here's where i need your help:

Optional Upgrades i plan to get:
1) central locks, keyless entry (5 doors). What kind and price?
2) seat covers. I know somebody in Handyman who makes it so ok na ito.
3) rims. I plan to retain the Hankook tires since i think the size is ok. But i think i read its hard to get rims for picanto. I only saw Concept One and Rota's websites but i dont know if they have for picanto size. What brand kaya and price?
4) 2 rear speakers, not boombastic just crisp, full, and sweet. Posts say 6.5 inch speakers are the right size for the rear. I plan 2-way speakers sa rear and factory speakers in front.
5)convex side mirrors. If available, the real mirrors and not the stick-on type. Where can i get kaya?
6)Interior detailing. Will gas station jobs do?
7)your suggestions?

all picanto models from 04 to late 05/early 06 have no OEM front power windows, power locks, joystick for side mirrors, no alarm. all are dealer options for power locks and alarm which I didn't like.

You can go upto 15" only. 195/50 tires with 42 offset rims or 185/55/15 tires.

have it checked at kia dealer to be sure, dipa tapos warranty. Do you still have the warranty booklet?

THANKS for the advice uwak18! About the central locks and alarm, hindi naman ako masyado maselan pero it seems you prefer to have it done sa casa. Can i buy outside kaya and let them install it? or better yet, buy the speakers (probably radio also), 3rd brake light outside na rin then install sa casa? Pwede kaya yun?

Has anybody changed their rims but retained the stock tires? The stock tire is Hankook 165/60R14 75H. May rim kaya that fits this?

About the crankshaft bolt, i called up Commonwealth and the SA said, it can be replaced under warranty ONLY IF it produces a "loss of power" problem. Reason is, not all 2004 Picanto's have that problem. Only specific units lang daw. How true is this kaya? I thought it was a batch problem.

grabe 560k na ang price for the manual picanto... tsk tsk tsk... mukang malabo na madagdagan pa ang mga picanto owners kasi mas pipiliin na lang nila mag vios or city dahil almost the same price na, then lumabas pa ang i10 na 498k lang na may additional accessories pa.... Kia should think of a better promo para makabenta sila uli....

cool blue po yung nakuha namin kasi wala na daw ibang kulay at wala na daw parating... ewan kung sinabi lang nila yun para kunin na namin yung nasa casa.

pero okay na din ang blue... neutral na kulay pero di ganun karami ang ka-kulay mo.

sana lang wag kaming bigyan ng sakit ng ulo ni picoy... 4 years to pay kasi so sana naman more than four years namin ma-enjoy na maganda kundisyon nya. otherwise di na kami uulit sa kia.

Regarding the power locks. Hindi naman preference sakin yung casa. Pwede naman sa labas. Mas gusto ko nga that I could see them what they are doing to the car. Ayokong nakaupo lang sa customer lounge. I got the OEM 3rd brake light with cover and installed it at casa because of the warranty issue.

Regarding tires. Wala pa ata nagpalit ng rims retaining the stock tire. Ang alam ko somebody change their tires and retain their rims. Size kasi ng steel rims is 5.0 J (38+) offset.

contact other casa for crankshaft problem. I thinks its a stupid answer to wait for the "loss of power" before changing the crankshaft bolt. May mga list kasi sila ng batches ng pica na papalitan nila yung bolt.

Bad move talaga for Kia. Hindi lang Picanto. To all models ng Kia locally sobrang ang tataas na with less features and accessories pa. Good luck nalang sa inyo Columbia Motors.

i might be able to get the picanto by next week. i have an out of town trip to tarlac this october and i hope by then my Picanto would be SAFE, SURROUND, and SWEET!

Well that's what my SA told me nung tinawagan ko sya kanina at may nabenta na daw sila na ganung unit with that upgrade. Pero sinabi nga rin nya na wala nga raw unit ngayon ng picanto kaya they are giving big discount for kia rio..... Yun ang sabi nya pero I never seen the unit with that specs.
Try confirming na lang muna sa dealer mo...

Last feb ko lang nabili ang picanto 08 ko.... at fr may - aug di ko na nagamit kasi nag punta ako abroad sa ngayon ang odo ay 2,400 lng... pwde ko na bang ipa change oil ito? now........ may napapansin ako sa makina... AT yung sa akin.... kpag naka-idle at nsa Park ang gear...... ok naman, pero pag nilipat ko na sa rev o drive...while pressing the break.... may ingay akong naririnig.... prang katok ba yon?...... tapos yung gulong dapat 2x a week akong mag karga ng hangin kz yung iba mababa na sa 32psi.... minsan nga check ko pressure ngayon after 3 days.... yung iba mga 28psi nlang.... pa iba-iba... hindi yung same tire........ mga tol.... anong pwdeng gawin d2?

1) they were inflated unevenly/inaccurately (uncalibrated metered pump, several different pumps, service guy errors etc)
2) 2 out of 4 tires inflated to 32 this week, next week the other 2 are the ones that deflate ahead.
3) inflation done at different times of the day (hot road, tires driven for a long period = higher air pressure in the tire)

you can diagnose the problem by inflating in the same station for a month, and topping up all tires (kahit pa 31 yung isa, i-32 mo lahat all on in one sitting).
Of course my opinions do not cover tires that leak air because of small punctures.

nope. Hindi kasya po.
pwede naman palagyan ng lahat nyan with side skirts pa.

Nope......... Isang gas station lang ako nag ccheck ng air pressure at laging sabay yung 4 na gulong ko.... tapos yung steerring nagtataka lang ako kung bakit sobrang gaang unlike noong bagong bili ko at yung break.... kapag nag---rrelease ako may ingay....paulit ulit yung once nag break ako........
