They would have sold a lot more if they bothered doing the same promotional gimmicks as HARI did for the entry level Tucson.

Both entry level variants of the Sportage and Tucson are priced close to each other, yet the Sportage has a few features more than its Tucson counterpart.

So why is the Tucson selling more?

    • At least ₱100k discount
    • More visibility at malls and events
    • Better freebies like 10" touchscreen head unit and cameras
    • Broader network of dealerships

As for the last bullet point, 3 Kia dealerships within a 2km radius of my house in QC has since closed down or moved to other car brands. This just goes to show how much poor support and marketing they're getting from the mothership.

So why is the Tucson selling more? It’s a matter of supply. KIA doesn’t even display their variants in showrooms. In the 6 dealerships I went to, they always say the variant is either in the warehouse, coming next year, coming December or not available anymore. If you are interested in the Sportage but not willing to wait without a timeframe, you’d most likely get the Tucson.
In the different dealerships I went to, they are pushing me to get the TOTL or the gas version, which I do not like. At the time, I don’t think they have supplies of the SL CRDI on stock, so bobolahin pa ako, not thinking that I’d always look in another dealership. I was able to get a good Agent, though.

    Guess what....

    BMW
    Mahindra
    Peugeot
    KIA

No need to promote or spend more in their marketing if your number one client is the government.

Have they released pricing for the SL versions? I called up a dealership near me and they have no idea what it is.

Yes, they sell the LX(2017) version at same price as the SL(2018) version which is P1,395,000 for the CRDI & P1,2xx,xxx for the SL Gas. There are subtle cosmetic changes between the two. I just hope “prices & specs will not change without prior notice”.

When I spoke to the different dealerships, they had differing opinions, which led to a lot of confusion for me. I also made blind inquiries through dealers FB. What area are you from?

Up North, try MVP Kia Araneta. They gave me a spec sheet of the 2018 SL with pricing. I am from the South, so I visited most of the dealers within my radius.
