I had to bring it back for rewiring solution. Took the guy some time, but he figured it out eventually after 2 hours. Then Whiteysporty had Sporty fixed too, pero faster na kasi the alarm guy already knew how to do it. Baka naman iba na ang installer ni Mike now sa Ride For Fun?

I currently have the chirps set to OFF kasi iskandaloso, esp at night. And Even if my middle remote button is now functional, I don't use it kasi the alarm is triggered (by shock sensor) everytime I close the tailgate no matter how softly I try. If I lowered the sensitivity naman enough to be able to close without alarm, the shock sensitivity is already too low na kahit kabogin ko na side panel, wala pa ding alarm. Baka basag na glass from robber, wala pa din. So I've kept a fairly sensitive setting for the shock sensor, and I just use the 1st (UNLOCK) button if I need to open the back.
thanks for the info doc! sabi na nga ba, there's something not right. i'm getting 3 chirps on unlock. ang layo pa naman ang alabang do you remember the name of your installer? i forgot the name of the installer but my guy was short with short-balding hair? i'll call mike tomorrow and schedule a fix.

i didn't know that was possible. i asked my SA what else i can do with it. he didn't mention this. before, my doors doesn't lock at all so definitely improvement un speed-sensing lock, but that definitely makes more sense

Unfortunately, the PH falls under the severe usage conditions category sa owner's manual natin where it specifically states na 5000 kms or 6 months 'yun change oil for a diesel unit. normally, it's 10,000 kms or 12 months. sa gas naman it's 15,000 kms or 12 months.

additional queries to code alarm equipped guys, did you opt to have your DRLs (park lights) blink when you arm/disarm the alarm?

and when the shock sensor is triggered, is it true that there's no way to use the signal flashers instead of the park lights? i was doubting the installer when he told me that he can't tap the signal flashers when the alarm is triggered by the shock sensor and not by the stock (intrusion) sensors

lastly, in your case, does locking your doors via the central lock mechanism before you start the engine cause the alarm to trigger?

Is it just me or the dash is too high? I mean i'm not that small (5'6") and i'm kinda feeling that it's either the driver seat is way too low or the dash is just high.

And the electric power steering feels too light and a tad numb.

Plus, don't you get blocked by the right A pillar too much when you're turning right in the sense that you don't know whether you're gonna hit curb or what?

May be you are used to those much bigger suv like fortuner or montero, where you have a really high driver level view and a real heavy steering. True the EPS on the KDM unit feels light as compare to traditional power steering but its a relaxing drive especially in traffic and tight parking, never want to drive the fort again. For me the dash is just fine. Seat height is adjustable, i've it set to just middle height and i'm not taller than you are.

The A pillar is something to be concern. Need more attention when turning, something need to used to.

My friends are teasing me if I can see the road or if I can even step on the pedals because I'm only 5"2'. I used to drive my dad's ford escape 2011 and took me few days to get used to it since I can barely see the hood. I feel the same way when driving the sportage, i can barely see the hood even if the seat height adjustment is already maxed out :D. you'll get used to it .

About the pillars, I almost hit a car making a u-turn because of this blind spot. I guess the work around for this is just to be more cautious when making a turn.

    Just sharing

I had my new car paint protection done by Big Bert's yesterday.

    Great service!

    Question:
I just noticed that there are watermarks inside my headlight enclosure - one side only. Is there a way to clean it or is this covered by the warranty?

#1 No option was offered during installation: the DRL blink on arm/disarm. I can't remember if this was the case when the alarm was only stock. Can somebody check this on their stock alarms?

#2 This wasn't discussed either during installation. But my observations are as follows: Alarm by shock impact = DRL only flashing PLUS Code Alarm siren output (since this only activates the Code Alarm). Alarm by intrusion = DRL + signal lights flashing PLUS Code Alarm siren output AND intermittent horn blasts (since this activated both the Code Alarm and the stock alarm)

#3 Once you get inside and close the door, then press the ARM button on remote to close the door, then start the vehicle, the Code Alarm will be set off (via siren) after 30 seconds (arming time) usually while moving already. This is clear and obvious since the alarm was armed, and the mode of activation is via shock sensor.

I tried locking the doors using the master door switch without starting the vehicle yet. I saw the red LED flashing indicating that the alarm had armed. True enough, after driving for 30 seconds, nag-siren alarm na. So apparently, with the engine off, locking the doors by master central lock switch also activates the Code Alarm. Unlocking immediately disarms it (the red LED stops flashing). This will pose a problem ONLY if you want to lock the car doors upon getting in, even prior to starting the engine.

Sorry I didn't get the name of the installer at Ride For Fun, pero medyo senior na siya.

The stock alarm is not connected at all to the DRLs. That's why I asked the installer why my DRL was blinking. I was not sure if letting the DRL blink or turn on/off might shorten its lifespan.

Yup. This was the explanation. If its the stock alarm triggering the alarm, it includes the signal lights. I'm just curious why they can't use the signal lights as well. The DRL is blinking anyway...

This is where we're different. My alarm sets off immediately. This is probably controlled by one of the switches. It's annoying since it's my habit to lock the doors immediately after boarding a car.

No issue doc, thanks for the clarifications though!

BTW, I tried the middle button on our key after you mentioned it (I don't normally use it). Seems to work perfectly for me. The trunk is unlocked and when I close it, the alarm is not set off and the doors are locked afterwards. The only issue I have is that 2 to 5 chirps on unlock. Sometimes I experienced only 2 chirps but I don't recognize any pattern to it.

Bittersweet experience today from Kia Las Pinas.

Brought Sporty today para ipakabit yung Code Alarm and headrest monitors. Kinabahan kasi ako sa warranty kaya dun ko pinagawa. Anyway, between 530-6pm, inip na inip na ako kasi hindi pa tapos. Sabi nila they were buffing the car kasi nagkaroon ng minor scratches. After 20 minutes, hindi pa rin tapos, so I demanded to see the car. Pagdating ko dun, scraped off na yung portions ng 2 doors sa driver's side and they were preparing to re-paint both doors na. Nagalit ako sobra. Sa minor scratch pa lang, galit na ako. Apprarently, it wasn't that minor after all.

After a few minutes, dumating yung owner, si Mr. Camacho. Kinausap nya muna yung mga tao nya para pagsabihan. Afterwards he came to me. He was very apologetic. Nasagi pala ng tao nya yung Sportage while driving it in their service area and hindi sya sinabihan agad.

Sobrang okay kausap yung owner nila. Sabi nya, they will re-paint both doors and babayaran nila ako for the cost of New Car Paint Protection. Aside from that, free na raw yung 1st PMS ko (labor and parts). Tapos he gave me a "service unit" while they fix the Sportage.... a Kia Mohave. Nalula lang ako when I checked the price on my way home, 3.2M pala yun! Hehe. Ingat ingat.

What looked like a very unfortunate experience turned out pretty well for me in the end.

Oo nga eh. Super ok si Mr. Camacho. Will probably have my PMS dun, especially since they allow you to bring your own oil.

Grabe Sir, ako man yan magagalit din ako, biruin mo kabago bago ng Sporty mo biglang repaint agad, dapat nga hindi lang yan ang ibinigay sayo. Tsk! Tsk! Ang nakakagalit pa itatago pa nila sayo to cover up their fault, may tangka pang itago sayo ang nangyari. Kung hindi ka pa talaga nag demand wala kang kaalam alam na may nangyayari na pala sa unit mo.

yup, that's really bad behavior on their SAs part to think they can cover up that, you will always notice sooner or later.

medyo uminit din ulo ko nun nakita ko how the service people are driving my unit. aba, akala mo ang luwang na stretch ng highway bilis bilis dun sa maliit na daanan nila e ingat na ingat ako when i drive the car, especially from start lalo na kung cold start good thing nothing happened to the car.

i bet that guy that scratched your unit was that guy. do us a favor when you take your car sir peej, make sure the guy that drove the unit or any of the service guys change their attitude when driving other people's cars

Sabi ni Mr. Camacho last night, there will be reprimands/suspensions coming. Suggest ko na lang na maglagay sila ng CCTV sa service area nila para mabantayan yung mga service people na grabe mag-drive.

I was surprised to see Kia LP offering tuning chips. One was the Diesel P-something (DP) Chip and the RaceChip (RC). Ang mahal pala nung DP chip, 50k raw Unfortunately, they weren't able to give me a quote sa RC.

And if anybody is interested, I'm still willing to let go of my RC pro

Bought my tires from Ben's O.K banawe, mura lang din ang Nankang sa kanila. Seriously, I have no intention to buy the Nankang.. Baka kasi sabihin ng ibang tao ka-mahal ng Tucson ko tapos Nankang lang ang tires.. Kaso okay daw at malaki ang savings ko, so pinatulan ko muna. Travelled over a thousand km now, the Nankang SP-7 is surprisingly good. First choice ko talaga is Falken 912 235/50/R18 * 9700/ piece.

Upgraded the size from 225/55/R18 to 235/55/R18.

Yes, kahit papano. It's slightly noisier than our stock Kumho Solus.
