December 19th, 2008 05:35 PM #2961We got ours for 1.1M Lx A/T model this Sept. This used to be 900K++ around 2-3 months ago. We traded in our 02 crosswind xtrm a/t for 500K then added 600K, inclusive of registration (3yrs) and insurance. I heard that prices have increased by another 20k again.

We went for a roadtrip to Batac Ilocos Norte using the Carens yesterday.
We left Pangasinan on a full tank. When we've travelled 432 kilometers on the way back, I decided to fill up. I got the ff figures:
432 kms / 27 liters = 16 kpl
I'm contented with the figures considering that the road condition was terrible as there were a lot of road constructions going on in a lot of parts of Ilocos Sur. There was a lot of stop and go traffic and one lane roads. Ang daming butas na daan and if I was to slow down, I will be left behind. I was with a convoy of vehicles (one Nissan Navarra 4x4 and a Nissan Urvan) and I kept up with the pace of the two vehicles so in effect, I subjected the Carens to a lot of stress and abuse during that trip.
I expected that I would hear some rattles and squeaks unerneath after the trip but fortunately, there was none. The Carens held up well against vehicles with tougher and stiffer suspensions. But I wouldn't dare do that again.
I had 8 other people on board.Their only complaint - ang haba at ang layo ng trip. No complains whatsoever about the ride.

It depends on how people drive.
For example, one thing I've noticed about H-K trannies is that they go practically freewheel esp pag downhill (kasi the rpm is below 1000). Nage-engage lang ang gears when you brake (or when you shift gears manually).
With the AT toyota Altis, parang naka-engage pa rin sya kahit coasting (or baka di lang ako sanay).
Because of this, I drive fast so i can gain momentum to coast at high speeds (80-120kmh) and travel for kilometers without pressing on the gas.
I haven't tried driving a Carens yet though.

I notice that when I take my foot off the accelerator, the RPM indicator suddenly drops to about 1,000. Do you experience this?

I was able to attain that because we travelled at an average speed of 60-80 kph for most of the time with the A/C always on. I did not even practice econo-driving. It was only when we were at La Union that I started to coast to about 100-120 kph. I used Petron DMax.
My concern at the moment is that after the trip, the alarm led (located near the footbreake release level) does not blink like it used to be. It is now "always on" ...even when it is armed or disarm or even when travelling. Baka naalog ito during the trip. I'll try to take a closer look.

A relative of mine in Canada had his Scion FR-S PPF'd and then had it ceramic coated. He says it's...
