    why and why not?

yup i would... tatanda your cousin mo if he keps on waiting anong maganda na ride bilhin kc every year lalabas ng new models or upgrades.... if he is planning to buy a ride.. he should decide now and not wait kung meron ba lalabas na new or mas maganda.... at this time bibili ako sa dmax kc iv known that this units are testes already and had been running sa thailand for qiute sometime already.... kahit hinid pa CRDi ang enigne niya. it peeforms well and can match up sa CRDi engines ng iba...

^+1 ako. hehe. Besides, wala pang definite release date ang crdi dmax dito sa atin.

The Dmax is a well balanced pickup (safety, ride, driveability, engine power, etc.). A rig having a more powerful engine doesn't mean that it is better. Besides, a non-crdi engine has its pros and cons (remember what happened to the JX1 trooper and the current d4d hi-luxes). I'm better off with a non-crdi engine which is more reliable, than a more powerful one which may die on me anytime.

However, I'm not saying that the Dmax is the ultimate pick-up. Consider the Strada and the Ranger. They have their advantages being new in the segment. But I still won't trade the reliability of Isuzu Engines.

If I were you choose among the three: Dmax, Ranger, Strada. I don't recommend the Hi-Lux being the stiffest of them all (personal experience). We've also had a not so good experience with the previous gen ranger having defective tranny at 5tkms. As for the Strada, medyo maliit ang bed..but if given the chance, I might choose it over my Dmax...

ako. D-Max pa din. ewan ko, given the right attention on any rig, i'd say, whatever you pick basta ina-alagaan, ok sya. hehehe.

dun pa rin ako sa old-fashioned, reliable isuzu dmax. no match yang strada na yan. gwapo lang pero no match yan sa under chassis ng DMAX.

me three! dmax rin pipiliin ko hehehe

as my old college professor said, always buy a new PC/software a month or two after its official release.

which makes sense. This to allow time for the manufacturers to sort out bugs that were not seen or did not come out in beta, that will come out during its production. imo, mahirap talaga yun bibili agad ng bago.

atleast by the time you buy the new software, meron ng mga patches to solve those bugs that have come out.

and I think it applies to almost any technological thing we plan to buy ... like the crdi equip'd pickups. I'll probably upgrade to a crdi on the next iteration of the dmax. or kung manalo ako sa lotto, maybe after a year from the initial release of the strada or ranger hehehe

next bili ko siguro ng ISUZU pick up is after totally useless na ung DMAX ko. mas masarap kasi gmitin ung mga lumang sasakyan na very reliable kaysa sa mga bago..

natanggal ko na headunit ng dmax ko. Mahirap tangalin. Pati yun clock kailangan mo tangalin. Basta its very complicated and kung di kaya, wag mo pilitin kasi brittle sobra yun dashboard plastic ng dmax. Baka mabali lang.

I still would. Iba pa rin ang Isuzu pag dating sa diesel engines.

Dapat nga last week because ARB had a Dmax displayed in one of the malls doon last week, I think complete with sounds set-up, suspension, basta pang show talaga daw showcasing the best their car shop is currently offering. Too bad nobody made it here sa Negros because kung meron kahit isa eh sure talaga ako punta Bacolod kahit ako lang mag-isa mag drive papunta ron .

Ako rin, Dmax, if I were to buy a unit right now. It's not because that biased ako that I have one but you just can't deny the reliability of an Isuzu powerplant . My Dmax will start first time, all the time and for me that's what counts. When I got mine a few months ago, I never raved about the crdi release from my dealer. All I knew then was that the current 4JH1-TC engine is just as reliable as ever.

New tech is not always a guarantee, for me, it must be first observed. Malay mo, by the time that technology has been perfected, baka mas mura na rin .

Yup, its a very risky and scary thing to do when you take out the entire center dash . When the local dealer here did that last month to check why my head u wouldn't switch on (loose contact lang daw), even the aircon vents came off. It was so unnerving to hear the plastics crackle .

I did see, though, the very large and thick cross-pipe(?) that holds the dash underneath; sign of a very rigid body frame!

    Just enlarged the pictures.

Hey ARB, I see that your TFS has a 5 leaf set-up similar to the newer D-Maxs:

I still have the 7 leaf spring pack and here's my present set-up:

Is it OK to remove the 2 bottom springs to simulate the 5 spring set-up? Will it further improve the ride?

When I had the last 3 springs inverted, I had the handbrake cable support unwelded from the #5 spring then after inverting the spring, had it welded again instead of just sawing it off:

the original of the TFS leaf springs has 6 leafs. This is one of my experimental set-ups. its a 4+1, 4 leafs that are together and the last 1 in case there is load. The best set-up that I have made is the 3+2 did not get picture, best ride compromise carrying capacity, still carried up to 400 liters of fuel and 2 truck tires.

your present set-up even if you remove the last 3 the ride will be the same since it doesnt touch anymore now, it just like its not there. Also when removing it the center bolt will be too long and you will have to buy or cut off the existing one. I suggest you try to remove the 3rd from the top leaf to make the ride softer, but you will lose some carrying capacity, but who carries everyday right? some do but my reason is if I break one of the leafs because I modified it and carried loads with it its ok with me. I can replace the broken leaf, but if I or we suffer back pains because of the ride can we replace our backs with new ones?

unless the mechanic will not align the guides or the center bolts to thier proper places. installing extended shackles will change the pinion angle but inverting removing rarely do.
