Mga sir, newbie here needing your help. We recently acquired Crosswind '04 (3rd owner na kami) and we later found out na nabangga pla ng previous owner. Sabi sa casa faulty na yung steering gear box causing excessive play. halos gumegewang na kami sa NLEX at 80kph. i Had the tie rod ends replaced, checked the centerlink, ok pa naman cya.
Wheels already balanced and aligned, Stablizer bar bushing checked. Coupler also in good condition.
Ask ko lang po, will i Change the gearbox or have it repaired? Please help. Medyo madugo po ung b-new steering gear box from ISUZU Center.

The usual protocol is to have it repaired/adjusted first. You would only need a repair kit to do this. It is only after the steering box is opened you would know if more repairs (replacement) is required.

What did the CASA recommend pala? If they said repair using repair kit, pwede.

Thank you sir Benz! Had it checked today, sabi ng mekanik okey naman yung gear box. What we noticed pag iniikot yung manibela half turn left-right, gumagalaw taas-baba yung body. baka daw loose balljoint kaya off-camber ang wheel. Hopefully mkita na talaga ang problema. Fortunately, hindi po gearbox like ISUZU said. Their assessor came with that conclusion within minutes w/out even looking under the chasis.

That's why we really need second opinion before even touching the said spare part that has an issue., just to be sure na di bolang kristal ang ginamit sa paghanap ng problem.

Yes sir! If by chance I accepted their assessment and had the gear box replaced, di rin maso-solve ang problem. Lalaki lang ng lalaki ang gastos till they overhauled the whole front end. 75thou pa naman sa knila ang gear box,35 thou for the power steering pump assembly. WALCO is offering 45thou for b-new gearbox, 22thou for the pump.

first thing you need to do is lift mo both front wheels, then tanggalin mo muna yung fluid sa baso by using a syringe para hindi messy.

third steer mo yung steering wheel todo left and todo right for several times...lalabas na ang old fluid mo..take note engine off ito during this procedure....

a flush of new fluid will do bago ka maglagay ng new fluid just follow the step above....hope this helps...base ito sa owners manual...

dun sa second question kaya nasiraan din ako ng power steering pump kasi hindi ko din alam kung kelan need magpalit ng fluid (dexron IIe) sa ride ko...kailan nga ba?mas matagal ba magpalit kung synthetic compare sa mineral? and ano ang signs na dapat ng palitan or routine inspection needed?....by the way mahirapan ka na din makakita ng dexron II nasa suking auto supply ngayon is dexron III backward compatible naman ito....
