Actually IT IS. MU-7 is what ISUZU Thailand call theirs while ISUZU Philippines call it Alterra here. Thailand (thou) has a higher variant that sports the "Super Commonrail" wherein the Intercooler is located on top of the engine (which explains why the hood has a hood scoop)

Practically speaking, no need to get a 4x4 when you don't need it. Added weight sa sasakyan yun and cost. Other than the drivetrain, basically the same. And black is available in both the 4x2 and 4x4. (4x4 only available in AT variant)

By how much weight is added?

I bought a 4x4 with the thinking that if I do not switch the 4wd mode, there will absolutely be no difference with a 4x2 unit.

So that is probably why my fuel consumption is so far off than the one that DOE published.

That's right. the 4x4 powertrain is added weight. I tried checking the online brochure of ISUZU's Alterra but unfortunately, it does not state the 4x4 GVW.

    guys,

sa mga owner ng alterra, nag palit na ba kayo ng SCV? we own an 2k5 alterra 4x2 automatic, the scv was first change was jan 27, 2009 - 32724 km, 2nd replacement was feb 15, 2010 - 45000 km, 3rd was recently jan 13, 2011 at 59470km. Medyo nakapagtataka, taon taon pinapalitan ang SCV namin after the warranty of the whole unit expired. Sina ng S.A sa amin na kaya pinapalitan ang SCV namin kasi madumi and Diesel Fuel na nilalagay, eh the big 3 lang ginagamit namin every since, and we already remove one of those 3 oil/gas company from the list. Nghihingi ako ng written diagnostic and the actual statement they mention regardin diesel quality of that particular gas/oil station ayaw naman nila mag bigay.... i already sent a formal email complaint sa isuzuphil, im still waiting for their reply. This is actually my 2nd complaint, 1st was never answered as according the customer service, they did not receive my email query. It was sent and logged using their contact us link posted on their corporate website. Well anyways, i talked directly to the customer service and ask directly the email address of the concerned group.

Again, hopefully isuzu will rectify this issue and hopefully give us full explanation and possible refunds of their defective part that was installed on our unit (twice). this is already my 2nd major complain with the alterra that we have, 1st was the engine immobilizer killing the engine while running at 100kph or sometimes the check engine appears while at 100kph at skyway that will make the car drop speed instantly to 20kph and only resolution was to reset the immobilizer.. tsktsktsk..

    Greetings to everyone!

    I have just joined.

From the previous posts that I have read, there are some "old" friends here (from the now seemingly defunct Club Isuzu) whom I hope to link up with again.

I have a 2011 Alterra 4x4 Urban Cruiser in Silky Pearl White....and I am grinning from ear to ear!

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.

Hey Uncle Nick. How are you? CONGRATULATIONS!!! Post a pic of your Alterra!

Yeah, it's been a couple of months now that "the other" forum has been offline. I have sent an email to inquire and last I heard is in transition to change web host. Will monitor and keep you (and others) informed.

    Thank you, good friend!!

I took delivery Dec 14 and received the 40000 advertised discount plus a free navigation system (worth 10000) from the dealer. My Casa is BMD Cabanatuan.

The navigation system for me (a foreigner) is just priceless--and is very comparable to what is available in Canada. I very highly recommend it.

So far I have just over 1000 kms and using Petron. Fuel mileage has improved tremendously from day 1. My last fill up gave me 9.9 km/L

    You can download a free mileage calculator at;
    http://www.vertex42.com/exceltemplat...alculator.html

My serial number is 100023.....so it was among the first units built.
    I was told that my particular unit was used as a model for promotional brochures. The picture and specs are at;

    http://www.auto-searchphilippines.co...ancruiser.html

The literature cited above reports disc brakes front and rear for the 2011. I have drum brakes in the rear. Maybe it is a misprint, or my unit was before the change. I am curious though.

In all other respects, my unit is the same as the 2010 model except for the front and rear chins added, and the removal of the tail pipe finisher. My wheels are "silver-finish", and rear decals.

My previous vehicles (in Canada) have always been "high end"....Lincoln, Cadillac, Mercedes, Corvette etc. My last unit before leaving was a GMC Yukon which is a lower priced Cadillac Escalade. This is not to brag but to show what I am comparing the Alterra to.

The Alterra does not have the toys that I am used to (which I would rather NOT have in the Philippines, but it more than satisfies for the Philippines driving experience.

I considered the Santa Fe, Fortuner and Montero GLS3.2.

The Alterra wins by a landslide!! It IS superior in my opinion.

I would be happy to answer any specific questions posed by any member.

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.

    I can't read tagalog, but.....

To answer another post in this thread....The curb weight of 2011 Alterra 4x4 is 1835kg/4045 lbs.

    Darn!!

I would love to go, but Manila is so far from home as to be out of bounds for me right now...I don't have my plates as yet and it has been over a month, now.

    Perhaps the next time around.

    Thank you.

I want an Isuzu experience. I'm choosing between Alterra 4x2 M/T and Sportivo X-max.

The new Alterra has a computerized engine (is that right?), what will happen if it gets wet? Are there already problems or instances like that?
The quality of the engine for me is what matters most. I don't want to regret anything.

    Thanks!

Wah
