January 24th, 2017 10:18 PM #203hello Tsikot forumers.. here's hoping you can help me figure out this problem with my '95 TFR Pickup (4JA1)
Dec. 27, 2016: 3+ year-old battery (Motolite Gold) went completely dead even with recharging, so i replaced it with a new one (same model).. pag change ko grabe ambilis mag start kahit malamig kahit sanay ako sa one-click start ng TFR ko, mas bumilis pa lalo yung starting
After 2-3 weeks i noticed the cranking went really slow to the point na feeling mo parang discharged yung battery.. this was worse in the morning with a cold engine, gapang talaga parang 4-5 na slow crank before umandar.. one-click start lang po ang TFR ko for so many years kaya unusual talaga.. pano naman ma di-discharge eh brandnew yung battery, i asked my self.. i then suspected a parasitic drain so i had a mechanic check it, sabi nya maluwag daw yung negative terminal ng battery, so hinigpitan nya and i went okay nag one-click start ulit pero succeeding days it was the same story, back to slow-cranking in the morning or when matagal yung interval ng pag start ulit ng engine..
so yung theory ko ngayon is yung maluwag na connection partly drained the brandnew battery kasi nga maluwag siya so hindi na re-recieve ng mabuti yung karga ng alternator.. napa check ko na pala ang alternator, and it's in perfect shape 14+ volts yung karga nya at idle with aircon stereo lights etc.. tama po ba ang theory ko?
so plan ko ngayon is to have my brandnew battery fully-charged tapos tingnan ko anong resulta.. if gapang pa din yung cranking with a fully-charged battery, tight battery clamps, and a well-working alternator eh ibang problema na talaga baka glowplug or something else.. sana po may makatulong sa pag advice.. thank you!

January 28th, 2017 01:51 PM #206update: still cranking slow in the morning and the battery voltage drops in the morning despite a fully-charged battery two days ago..
but once the day progresses and the engine is a bit warm from use, the starting quickens up a bit, sometimes even one-click and it fires up.. really puzzling to be honest.. the guy at the battery shop told me i could have possibly bought an "old stock battery" which is really sad if true
will now have the starter checked.. hahay

baka grounded lang po yan sasakyan nyo. pa check sa electrician ang linya. maari ding ang battery ang problema kahit bago, may warranty ang motolite, pakita mo lang ang warranty card.

January 29th, 2017 09:26 AM #208went to the mechanic yesterday po, had the glowplugs checked, no problem daw sa glowplugs.. tapos checked and tested the starter, mechanic noted na medyo mabagal yung ikot ng starter.. he suggested na linisin yung starter assembly baka marumi na.. after this, if andun pa din yung problema ipapa trace ko na yung electrical system

I'd put my money on a failing battery. Yung symptoms na dinedescribe nyo indicates a weak battery. Pag mahina na battery kahit ipa charge nyo it will not hold the charge for long. Kung starter yung issue ninyo, kahit mainit na yan at tumakbo, pag start nyo mahihirapan pa rin. Have your battery tested and replaced if necessary sir.
