Hello there, I just want to know if anyone of you had experienced any problems with this engine?
Kasi kami as of now wala pa. We have 2 isuzu with this engine =)
Reliable talaga itong engine na ito?

Two Crosswinds. So far, no trouble. Have had to have a mechanical pump fixed at 150,000 kms on one, but it was poorly maintained. The one that I'm responsible for is at 180,000 kilometers, much of it in traffic and at high speed. So far, it doesn't belch blue smoke, doesn't eat oil, and still gets around 10-14 km/l on the highway. (14 when I'm actually patient enough to drive it at a sedate 60 km/h.)
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
i have 2 hilanders and my main problem is eliminating the smoke emission problem.
its kinda embarrassing when accelerating hard. too much smoke when looking at the rear view mirror. but its normal for a 4ja1 hehehe
^ I agree, i find it also embarrassing T_T. Pero minsan hindi na naman siya masyado mausok. Pero pag malamig masyado ang weather kahit naka idle minsan mausok siya...
4ja1 problem: white smoke emission... takaw sa sita, specially in makati and pasig... kahit bagong unit, talagang obvious ang white smoke...
my 2001 xto mileage is 110k... problem ko yung white (blue) smoke evident sa morning or bagong start, pag mainit na nababawasan na.
ang question ko puede ba maayos ito? i mean if i bring it sa calibration shop mawawala ba white smoke emission?
or temporary solution lang. im planning kasi dalhin ito paayos ko or something.
baka normal lang sa 4ja1 na mausok at amoy unburned fuel?
Blue smoke is oil. It should be evident in checking your dipstick whether the oil level is going down or not.
White in the morning is just water, that's normal.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
so ok lang yung white smoke? ang ayaw ko lang talaga yung lakas ng amoy
ng diesel fuel sa usok. yung white smoke diminishes as i use the vehicle, pero
yung amoy ng unburned fuel medyo malakas.
aside from the white smoke emission, the bad odor of unburned fuel is really annoying... ganyan yata talaga ang 4ja1 -- direct fuel injection daw kasi, according to another article i read in another thread... the bad odor was gone for a while after i had my nozzle tips cleaned and calibrated, but after a few weeks, i noticed that the smell of unburned fuel is back![]()
so ibig sabihin useless din palinis ng injectors and nozzles.. sa mga high
mileage kasi kailangan daw palinis injectors and possibly replace nozzles.
bought my 97 hilander six months ago... first time to have a diesel powered vehicle... have to renew its registration next month (january)... with the white smoke emission and smell of unburned fuel, are these indicators that it fail the required emission test? hope to hear from you guys in this regard... TIA
bago ka magpa-emission test maglagay ka ng biodiesel. it will help you pass the test. that's what i do every registration.
1 liter biodiesel to a half full tank or less para matapang. then bomba ng accelerator bago pumunta sa emission testing center. labatiba na rin.
