    2009 Hyundai Sonata

You can see the car sped to 117kph on the GPS display on top. And chilling moans of the victims at the end of the video... Maraming SUA cases mga Hyundai pala...

Korean officials are now investigating whether dashboard camera video that shows an elderly Korean couple speeding through crowded city streets and then plowing into another vehicle at 80 mph is evidence of sudden, uncontrolled acceleration by the vehicle.

Footage of the May 6 crash, in which 17 people were injured, was posted on an internet forum by the couple's son, who told Korean media he didn't think that the police or the auto manufacturer would believe that the crash was caused by sudden, unexplained acceleration.

The incident, which occurred in heavy traffic in Daegu, one of South Korea's largest cities, was captured by a camera mounted on the Sonata's dashboard and facing forward. In the 29 second clip, the car accelerates quickly from a complete standstill. The driver weaves in and out of traffic, trying to avoid impact as his wife blurts, "Oh my god, what is going on?" The driver then slams into the back of a stopped car at 129 kilometers per hour.

On Monday, the Korean government said it planned to investigate the incident, and that it is also investigating several other incidents of alleged sudden acceleration.

In a statement to ABC News, Hyundai Motors said, "The Vehicle is being inspected by the Korean National Forensic Service. There is no time estimate for the conclusion of the investigation."

On May 5, Hyundai announced that all its cars are now manufactured with brake override systems, which are designed to stop sudden acceleration incidents. According to Korean media reports the vehicle from the Daegu crash was a 2009 Sonata.

^ Kasi di naman uso dashcam dito? Hehe.

    ---

BTW, ang haba pa ng tinakbo nung sasakyan. Bakit hindi nakapag-brake yung driver???

Walang presence of mind, IMO. It's just like him waiting for the car to crash on something for it to stop.

at least buo pa yung passenger cabin nung kotse even after crashing at 100++ kph. hirap din niyang "sudden acceleration" issues na ganyan, yung iba driver error lang talaga, yung iba after a lawsuit lang. toyota, mitsubishi have had their shares of this, even honda may actual person na kilala ko na nangyari sa kanya (2000 civic ek). best is to know what to do if this happens to you.

dapat yung binangga na lang nung driver yung unang kotse nung pa-accelerate pa lang siya, kung wala na talaga siyang control

Tama. At least hindi na sana siya umabot ng 80MPH.

I would have gone for the first wall I would see. At the start of the acceleration, you could hear the driver apply the handbrake. I would still wonder though why would the car manufacturers let ECU access to accelerate the car. I know they do that to increase/decrease idling but there should be a hardware to limit any acceleration initiated by the ECU.

i wonder what would have happened if the driver shifts the gear to P immediately.

but everything happened so fast na its difficult to decide on what to do na.

    sir renzo, same sentiments here..

for that long stint of horror, hindi pa rin niya naisipan to pull the emergency brake, nor step on the brake as hard as he could...

Otherwise, he should have rammed the car in front of him. The impact could have been less... But again, sh!t really do happen, kaya presence of mine talaga... But honestly, mawawala rin siguro concentration ko, esp. my wife beside me is screaming like h3ll. hehehehehehe...
