Just came from Hyundai regarding final negotiations on my purchase of 4x2, I ask this whether SF have self leveling suspension and VSP (vehicle stability program). the sales super called his contact at the plant and confirmed that SF have neither. I got a cash disc & freebies include 3year LTO, full 3M tint, matting, and mudguards and installation of backupsensor (which i can buy outside, I asked for this option so as not to have any warranty problems in the future.). inlieu of the mudguards, they offered me the 2eye backup sensor(they don't have the 4-eye version). i will be paying a downpayment this coming tuesday and hopefully get my unit on Friday. I have a few questions that i've yet to come across on this thread:
1. Is the spare tire safe from thieves? I bought my fort a sparetire lock(coz its relatively easy to steal the spare) but i didn't notice any info regarding the if its possible to steal the SF spare.
2. Which option would be better?
A. get the free 2-eye backup sensor and pay for the mudguards(3000)? Not too thrill about this option coz IMHO 2eye is not as good as the 4eye version.
B. go out and buy the backup sensor with distance reading and have it installed in CASA? The problem here is that the CASA installers may not have the expertise to install other brands thus creating problems that i'd like to avoid in the first place/
C. buy and install the backup sensor outside. this option gave me a lot of choices but i've also read about prblems such as the instance where the installer forgetting to return speedo cable after installation.
3. This one's abit tricky. i'd like to install a backing camera. that'll mean a new LCD type HU. can i still use the steering wheel remote control after changing the HU? any suggestions on what brand to get?
BTW the super mentioned that a new batch of SFs have arrived yesterday so they expect all colors to be available again...
Thanks

you can only access the spare tire to lower it by opening the trunk, its towards the right side you will see a circle and written is spare tire. you pull that out and turn the bolt to lower the spare tire. i don't know if you can access it from below, in the fortuner you need to go underneath the vehicle to lower the spare tire.

if you want problem free on your part i would suggest getting it from the casa, because if anything goes wrong you can just go back to them. you can buy it outside and have the casa install it but then if there are problems the store you bought it from and the casa will be finger pointing.

just got my unit today and had the casa install a backing camera and a 2din lcd HU. I got the AVT brand because this was the only one the casa's are carrying. if the accessories shop of the casa is winterpine then they have this option for you. i had this problem with Hyundai Commonwealth because their accessories shop is not winterpine and therefore could not offer me this option. I then asked Hyundai Pasig and their price was higher than what Hyundai Balintawak was offering. In the end I just got my unit from Hyundai Balintawak and had them install the AVT lcd HU and the backing camera. It includes bluetooth for handsfree cellphone, ipod connector for using your ipod to play music and video, and also the steering wheel remote so that you can still use the buttons on your steering wheel. all-in-all i was very happy with the purchase.
just got my Blue Titanium V6 Santa Fe today and all I can say is im loving it...
i had the dealer install the AVT multimedia system together with the backing camera and galing kahit madilim kitang kita pa rin... i will post pics as soon as I can...
Hi, had my first 1000 km PMS today and was a bit surprised that the service provided also included engine detailing. Is this normal? I had checked my engine prior to the PMS and it was still very clean.
I have never experienced engine detailing being included automatically in PMS before unless it was specifically requested.
Anyway, other items included in the service:
> oil filter and 6 liters of engine oil
> fuel system cleaner
> TBB all body bolts
> Check and correct all tire pressure
> check flue levels
> inspect suspension parts condition (probably because I complained of some rattling sound in dash/passenger door area when traveling on asphalt or bumpy roads)
65k... i know for that price i can get a branded one like kenwood or jvc but my main reason for getting it from the casa is:
1. winterpine is already sanay to install the hu sa SF, and i saw them install it ang daming tanggal sa dashboard.
2. if something goes wrong its easy to just bring it back to the casa and they will make sure it gets fixed.
3. if may natamaas sa electrical system ng car because of the hu there wont be finger pointing between the installer and the casa.
4. peace of mind.
im really happy with it specially the bluetooth gamit na gamit...
Sir dragonheart,
65K for everything? (including backing camera & steering wheel interface?)
can you give me the model number of your AVT HU? is it the IM-988TN?
http://www.avt.ph/products_doubledin...en.htm#IM8810T
I've heard that China brands?? like AVT does not offered the same level of anti-glare properties when directly exposed to the sunlight. the screen becomes more washed out as compared to branded ones like JVC, maybe the new models have already included an anti-glare filter.
OT As for the spare tire of the fort. The lowering hole can only be access once the rear hatch is open, but the bracket holding the spare is not that wide as to cover the whole center hole + approx 2". This have been discussed in the fort thread that once a thief removes sufficiently enough air from the spare tire. he can wiggle the spare from the bracket. So fort owners need to purchase an aftermarket lock (1600) to secure our spare.
Any SF owners out there who have purchased a spare tire lock for your ride?
yes its the IM-988TN. i have no problem naman with glare, just got home and have been driving in the hot sun and hindi naman mahirap or malabo yung screen. one thing also is that the design of the dash is not that slanted so you dont tend to get the glare from the winshield.
i know that jvc is better and even has a bigger screen 7" but for me what is more important is peace of mind with my ride. kasi ang daming tatangalin sa dashboard so if its not put back correctly you may get noise coming from the dashboard. at least if the casa installs it i just bring it back to them and their obliged to fix it.
has anyone changed their horn on their SF? what did you install and where did you have it installed? i want to change the horn kasi i find it too high pitched parang d bagay sa ride natin...
here are the pics of my new SF:

Pwede namang kontratahin na lang yung installer ng Winterpine. Nakausap ko na yung taga-Hyundai Alabang basta bumili na lang daw ako sa labas ng HU w/ in-dash LCD at sya ang bahala sa installation. Kailangan ko na sigurong mag-research para sa future in-dash LCD HU kohehehe Gastos na naman
