Carlurker, is that you Don ? I can vouch for this guy, he installed my OEM Gps headunit for my Sta Fe. Great quality, good customer service. Sayang lang di ko na nahintay na yung para sa Elantra. Bought a 2-din Pioneer Head Unit without GPS for my Elantra, I wanted to replace the stock single-din na kasi as soon as possible. Pero kung available lang sana agad, I would definitely prefer an OEM with GPS... adds class to the car.

some questions I have on elantra users:

Is the suspension ok? meaning that is it not too soft much like what I'm reading about the accent (that easily bottoms out)?

For M/T users, how's the clutch action and gears? (too bad hyundai does not have a test drive of the 1.6 M/T units but I'm still pushing my SA for one). Also how is the reverse gear implemented? Has it got a ring to pullu p in order to select reverse gear and prevent it to be selected when you are aiming for the first gear (much like what is found on the previous gen accent)?

Any niggles on the overall build quality this early?

    Thanks!
I haven't noticed any suspension problems with my Elantra MT. With 4 passengers even if I go thru a speed bump it does not bottom out. Yes, the Elantra has a pull up mechanism to engage the reverse gear. So far the clutch is very responsive and the shifting is smooth. The only negative aspect I can think of is how high the rear is. It is difficult to gauge the distance when backing up. This was solved by having a reverse parking sensor installed.

Good luck sir and I do hope you make up your mind to buy the Elantra because it really is a good buy.

    My 2 cents.

wanna share the mods that i did yesterday to my wife's Elantra, unfortunately she does not like it. It is a hell of a job to redo the mods done in the headlights so better leave them like that...

Finally got the Elantra GLS, filled it up full tank to check on FC, roaming around the city and highways, tank now at half and total trip is 300km, will post FC results once gas rans out. Hoping for a 10l/km ave or 10km/l FC but still under 1000 km mileage. Others tell FC would improve further once it reaches 5000 km PMS. Keep you posted !

expect it to go better sir, my wife's FC now at 8liter per 100km and only 1100km ODO reading. I am expecting better result on Sportage too way better than the Tucson IX. The EPS of the Elantra helped a lot in lower FC. I wish in the future they can implement the diode type AC system to free the engine from more load thus giving us way lower FC in our cars.

*lurkercar, sounds exciting huh, cars getting better on FC despite the engine size at 1.8l. My first time to see a 100-120km/h speed at 2000 rpm. Elantra should be a good buy!

I believe in Hyundai/Kia technology sir to be better than those of Japanese, our family has auto shop abroad and we are so exposed working on the electrical and mechanical of modern cars of different origin. The Korean follows those of the Germans' but of course I dont have cash to burn on pricey German brands kaya settled ako sa Korean brands hehehe... pero sa pinas mas preferred pa din ang Japanese brands talaga, sabi nga ng neighbor ko upon seeing the Elantra and the new Sportage ang gaganda daw ng style sayang at hyundai and kia ang brands nila hehehe
