I called a Hyundai dealer at pasig today, asked about the knocking issue, if ever I buy one, and "knocking" happens, they would replace the ECU, (no questions asked daw). and as of January they had no complaints regarding this issue, he also stated that they've already changed the ECU's of new Accents.

I visited the dealer earlier today, they are not going to replace the ECU pala, they're just gonna re-program it... Are there any other problems that may arise after re-programming?

It's a gamble. Maybe he likes to gamble nothing wrong with that, he just might get a perfectly good unit. Not all have problems, I have 4 ofc. mates who have accents from manual to matic and they are all satisfied with it.

Ang sabi ni bro.bratski,- no matter how many times you reprogram the ECU,- may problema pa rin after a while...

Yup. That's why I backed out sa original plan ko to get an Accent 1.4MT. Will get a safer choice instead.

Low power, poor FC, CV joints busted, power windows, CDLs... etc. etc. etc...

Kung walang problema yung Accent that can result to poor FE such as low power, engine knocking etc. etc. City consumption should be about or a bit lower than the Vios. ~10-11km/L.

Don't know how the City 1.3S consumes since 1.5E palang nagamit ko.

My original plan was to get the City, but found it too expensive and unpractical. Then my preference went to the Accent... didn't want to gamble and might end up getting a Vios instead.

maiba lang, meron ako kia rio ex mt. since halos same lang ang makina nila with accent, just want to know kung at risk din ba ito sa katok issue ng pinsan niya. and talagang sinearch ko pa sa you tube kung ano ba yung katok. sorry kasi 7 years na sportivo ang gamit ko and first time ko bumili ng kotse. wala ako idea kung ano ba katok kaya nung tiningnan ko sa you tube, ito ba yung maingay na talagang kumakatok ang makina habang naka ignition on? and totoo ba na ang dahilan nito is hindi maganda ang fuel natin sa pinas or talagang may problema ang kotse. and isa pang tanong, regarding sa low power, mahina ba ito sa akyatan lang kasi ito ang napansin ko sa rio ko when we went to tagaytay. mahina sa akyatan. pero hataw naman siya sa highway sarap dalhin sablay nga lang talaga pagdating sa ahunan kaya mejo nagdadalwang isip ako dalhin sa baguio.

try to consider the city, vios or fiesta... much better if you could ask for a test drive... then saka mo sila compare... aside from the engine issue consider mo din un FE and maintenance ng car... pro ill prefer the city or vios kesa sa accent... well accent really had good looks pero you could look bad also dahil sa sakit ng ulo ng sasakyan mo... just my opinion...

Yes, it's because of our low quality fuel.

No, it's not because of low power. If I understand it right, ang low power is biglang magcchoke yung sasakyan leaving you the power you need to run the car but not to overtake, hataw etc.

Ma'm, gamble ka nalang since your really want it.

I'd avoid it as much as possible. 1.4AT ka pa naman. Mga swerte lang most of the time eh mga 1.4MT owners, but they're not really safe from the problems.

Knocking, low power, poor FC are just few of the problems that some Accent has. Meron pa iba diyan, power mechanisms not working, CV joints busted etc. etc.

Pero if you're willing to risk it for the sake of being happy, by all means go for it.

It's one of those major decision in life. But it doesn't matter what you decide but the experience of the decision. We learn from any decision that we make whether it's right or wrong.
