thanks po sa mga advice!
ngayon ko lang na realize na dami pa lang dapat i-consider when buying a brand new car...
VPower Nitro+ and Nitro+ Racing has drastically improved torque and power of the Accent 1.4 Gamma Engine. If I would benchmark it on percentage points, 15-20% improvement on the later.
I suggest using this fuel as this is the compatible fuel for these high compression Gammas...
Can somebody explain or describe how the engine knocking thing sounds like or how the power loss experience is?
My 1.4A/T Accent is barely two weeks old with a little over 500kms on the odo. I've been very happy with it and have had no problems until I started reading on the issues raised in local forums such as these.
Last Saturday, I drove my car up to Tagaytay and noticed that:
1) While cruising at around 80kph on SLEX, whenever I would want to pass another vehicle, there are times when the engine takes long to respond to the accelerator pedal. It does not really feel like power loss in such a way that the engine drags down or the car slows down but rather more like the AT taking a while to respond.
2) Coming from a full stop, when I slowly press on the accelerator, I hear a very very faint knock - something like light taps on a solid piece of wood. One that you would not hear of the radio is turned on or if you are engaged in a conversation.
I'm worried now that I might be getting all psycho-somatic on my car. For one, I've been driving stick for most of my life, but the slushbox in a Pajero that I rarely drive seems to respond a little faster than the Accent.
I took the car to the dealer earlier today and was told that I might have to leave the car overnight. I'm just thinking I might be trying to fix something that's not broken.
Any insights on my dillema?
have you asked your dealer kung updated na yan ng euro 2? if di pa, pa-update mo sakanila.. that will somehow eliminate the knock & low power issues
also what fuel do you use? i'd suggest go for Shell VPower, Petron Blaze 100 or the least would be Petron XCS
Thanks for the reply renzo_d10. From the time the car was delivered to me, I've gone through Shell and Petron. With Shell, I've tried Super Premium and V-Power Nitro+. Pag Petron naman, Blaze lang. Have not really paid attention as to what fuel the engine would start the mild knocking thing. It doesn't happen all the time anyways, but the last time I heard it, I was on a mix of half a tank's worth of Super Premium with 200 bucks of Petron Blaze.
Is it safe to mix these fuels or am I concocting a recipe for disaster?
Also, how long does it take to have the ECU reprogrammed?
Thanks!
may naka-experience na ba sa inyo from gear 1 to gear 2, kapag nag ni-release ko apak sa gas may tumutunog, then kapag inapakan ko ulit pareho din tunog, dati wala naman. hindi to engine knock na continues ang tunog.
As much as possible avoid 93+ RON, most Accents kasi hindi hiyang sa 93+ RON fuel.
Regarding mixing of fuels, no idea... because when I switch fuel, I take it to the point na at least 1/4 nalang natitira sa tank.
Just an update - I've been loading up only on either Shell V-Power Nitro+ Racing (97) and Petron Blaze (100).
Although not all the time, the knocking is still there. Usually between 1.5-2K RPM, right smack in the middle of where the needle drops everytime the A/T upshifts. I noticed it usually happens while the engine is still cold, and it does not manifest when I turn the A/C compressor off.
I'm thinking if I should bring it already to the dealership or put it in along with the 1K PMS (odo is already at 750).
Any suggestions?
I am experiencing this slight rattling sound on my front left suspension which is more evident on uneven roads and bumps on the road. My initial suspect is probably the rack and pinion. Since i changed my stocks rims with 17", could this be the cause of the rattles? Does anyone else have this kind of problem?
Wow! Hinanap nila lahat ng reason bakit kumakalampag and they got to the conclusion na Shock mount Sir. After 3 weeks ng paghihintay sa replacement parts medyo meron parin kalampag, may problema din daw kse Tie Rod so will wait for the replacement parts to arrive. Nakakainis lang na nung ni-replace nila Shock Mounts eh nasira nila yung rubber ring sa tip ng shocks sa loob ng engine bay, can i have them replaced o OA na masyado?
Don't buy a HyunDAY.
Go for HONDA, FORD, TOYOTA, or even a MAZDA.
Hyundai lahat ng line-up may sakit!
There are a lot of satisfied Hyundai owners for Grand Starex, Sta. Fe, Tucson, Genesis, i10, Getz, et al....
Right now, I own 2- to 4-year old(except for our Nissan) run-of-the-mill vehicles from Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Hyundai... (You see,- no brand-loyalty for me....)
And, in my honest opinion,- the best performer from among our lot, is our Hyundai vehicle.
sir yung sa akin 1.4M/T im averaging 6–7L/100km equivalent to about 14-17km/lit.(base to sa trip meter ko) mix driving highway/city (slex to shaw edsa). 1600 ODO[/QUO
1.4 na M/T pa un ah.. ung 500 pesos na gas na from alabang to makati back to alabng ubos ung 500.. 80-90kph lng takbo ko nun..
Good for you Sir.
Pero based yan on statistical facts. Show me a line na at its first year walang major topak and I'll edit all posts containing Hyundai crap.
And please understand the statement correctly, nakalagay jan na "lahat ng line-up may sakit", it doesn't say lahat sira. Meaning miski higher models hindi ka makakawala sa problema di gaya ng brands (who dedicated their time perfecting their cars) HONDA, NISSAN, TOYOTA, etc. na may mga topak din pero to their higher models very minor or wala.
Sir ganyan yung amin nung nag lolow power sya. Have it checked Sir. After my ECU replacement balik na sa 10-14km/lit. traffic from QC to BGC and back. Distance travelled everyday is 42 kms, so it's just 270 pesos on gas (I'm using V-Power +Nitro Racing).
Based on experience, kapag naubos mo na lahat ng remnants ng Petron mawawala yung knocking. Just load up on Shell products and i recommend the higher octane ones.
The dealership changed my compressor so nawala yung wokwok sound na yan pero after a month of use bumalik din, so compressor bearing issue sya.
Hope this helps.
Boss, I'm not a Hyundai Fanatic ha, and I owned two hyundais an i10 (sold later to get an accent) & an accent, and a honda city GM. Although, was able to dodge this knocking thing, pero to say nga mga All New models sa ibang brand walang problema.
- Toyota's early D4D Engines (Innova, Fortuner) w/c is unluckily my dad owned one and sold the car when it is still around 6K mileage and lost over 250k (resale value is too low for the defective fort)
- Early Civics' Engine Supports
- Honda City GM (13k ODO Reading) /Honda Jazz GEs (around 6K ODO reading) thermostat. Belive me bro. My city GM & my sister's GE thermostats were replaced twice na.
I'm with you in your opinion nga medyo mahina ang effort ni HARI to resolve this issue and it took them a year to find at least a good ECU setting..

Okay,- objectively,- tama ang statement mo bro,- pero keep in mind na lahat ng line-up ng lahat ng vehicle manufacturers may sakit.... Puso mo...
Kaya nga research research research. Walang impulse buying dahil lang gusto mo.
That is why I usually buy a brand new vehicle after its first 2 years of introduction/release. And with this, I believe that I got the best from each vehicle class (kaya nga walang brand loyalty)....
Pero kahit ganuon pa man,- may 'sakit' pa rin kahit papaano....
