Wow... some people must have had reached their wits end when it comes to the issues that they have been encountering. I've read through the thread and realized that aside from the common issues (knocking, suspension, power), some have stalled, etc. Quite frankly, I think those who were adversely affected and inconvenienced, have all the right to complain. But then again, human emotion is subjective and when emotions mix with opinions, they become subjective too.

I'm no fan of Hyundai. It's my first time to own one - and in the less than one month that I've had my brand new car I have experienced what most of you have experienced.

My engine occasionally knocks, my right front suspension seems a little more sensitive than the left, my fuel consumption can't seem to go past 8km/L in the city and I don't think the engine is putting out as much power as it can.

But hey, I love the styling. I love the plush ride. I love the way the cabin acoustics enhance my audio system. I love the way the lights don't flicker when the electrical load is high. I love the stock exhaust note. I love a lot of other things about the car.

We don't have to live with it's defects, but we definitely have to deal with it. I just hope that when I bring the car to the dealer for it's 1K PMS, they pay attention and resolve the issues that I will raise.

There's really no point in making noise in these forums to pursue other people not to patronize a certain brand or product. While it is true that sharing this information will help others make sound decisions on a purchase, you really can't dissuade someone whose mind is set on something. If they really want a Hyundai, they will get a Hyundai.

So true... kasi after a lot of thinking at pag dadalawang isip, Hyundai Accent pa rin ang napili ko.
Just got the car two days ago, I took the gamble. So far I'm happy with it. I really hope walang maging major problem in the future.

    AMEN!

We can suggest, but we can't dictate.

    Don't buy a HyunDAY.

Go for HONDA, FORD, TOYOTA, or even a MAZDA.

Hyundai lahat ng line-up may sakit!

tama si andro. tsaka isa pa, pera ng buyer yun not yours. hayaan mo sila kung magkaproblema sila or maging masaya. intindihin mo yung sarili mo hehe.

tsaka as long as they won't stall in front of me in heavy traffic then no problem.

Same here... The comment about the electrical system, I would say you really hit the nail in the head... I was running a two amp setup (Boston acoustics 4 Channel, a GTA-704 & GTA-800M), and my lights never flicker when the sub hits those low notes. However, for stability purposes, I had a 1.5Farad Rockford Cap installed after a month...

Is this serious? Less than 8km/L na fuel consumption? Very unlikely for an economy car. Mas matipid pa yung Elantra or even the Sonata. This is serious problem especially as the car age, it tends to have poorer fuel economy.

So far no problems yet since the ecu replacement and update, but then again, i haven't really used the accent much. Currently 3k palang odometer and more than a year of ownership.

Maganda pa nga fuel economy nyan. I only manage to average a little over 6 km/l on city driving. Pero that's purely city traffic driving. With very light inputs on the gas pedal.

I sent the car in today for its 1K PMS.

I decided to stick with Semi-synthetic since I couldn't get myself to accept the fact that Hyundai's full-synth engine oil is rated 15-50w and I have to spend over 3K for it. I'm sure it will help with the fuel consumption.

Anyways, I told the service advisor about the occasional knocking that I hear between 1.5K-2K RPM and asked them to make sure the ECM is updated also. Got there at 7am, car was serviced around 730am and was out around 1030am.

So far, in my short driving stint, I have yet to hear the knocking sound that was present before. Tried replicating the circumstances when it would manifest previously, but did not hear it. Engine feels slightly more responsive but can not comment on FC yet. Not the engine's fault though...

Anyways, I hope tuloy tuloy na yung improvement. From a psychological point of view, pag lagi kang nag-hahanap ng problema, malamang may mahahanap ka talagang problema.

By the way, para sa mga car gurus dyan baka pwede akong ma-enlighten:
The knocking issue is basically an ignition issue, tama ba?
From what. I've learned in the past, knocking is caused by pre-detonation. If this is the case, hindi ba kayang ma-solve yung problem by using colder plugs? Has anybody tried this?
Also, anong spatk plugs ang gamit ng 1.4 Gamma CVVT? I'm thinking of replacing mine with Platinum or Iridium.

I have an issue with the front suspension. I also had the knocking issue when I tried switching fuels from Shell unleaded to other brands with the same octane level. I solved the issue with about three tankfuls of V-Power Racing. No more knocking but stuck with V-Power Racing.

I think the knocking issue has something more to do with the compression ratio of the engine, that is why if you backread on this thread, accent owners recommend higher octane rating fuels to resolve the knocking issue.

ECM updates (as of the present) fixes the knocking issue of previous accent owners, but to be safe, monitor the car's performance for a couple of months, the knocking might return or the low power issue might take its place.

Not an accent owner, just a car enthusiast. But if it were me, I would try lowering the compression ratio of the engine (if it is possible) to accommodate lower octane ratings. My guess, the ratio of the engine is either off by 0.XX something or just too high for our not so clean fuel.

I haven't read any on this thread that have done that (lowering/adjusting compression ratio) but would like to see if anyone does it and its result.

Miguey, all accents here and abroad have issue with front/back suspension. Its too soft. Aftermarket is only solution.

With your knocking, check with your casa if you have Euro 2 update. After the update, you will still hear hear it occasionally or none at all using Shell Unleaded. Vpower is a waste of money in my opinion.
