Hi mga sir i am from the middle east saudi arabia yung accent ko po ay 2012 hyundai accent RB 1.4 mt i been using 95 octane gas from the beginning no knocking issue hanngang ngayon sobrang tipid po ito 1 full tank ko po nag register sya ng 5.7l / 100km 80-90 lng speed ko RPM between 2.2 to 2.5, 80% highway driving kung sa medyo mabilis 6.0-6.1l /100km 100-110km speed I think my RPM is between 3 to 3.5 80% highway driving using Castrol 10w30 malambot lang yung spring sa likod pero dpa nman sumayad khit puno yung sasakyan i am happy with the accent overall performance sana ma solve na yung knocking issue dyan sa pinas

ako kase sa caltex lang and always gold lang.

I have been a regular shell unleaded user, pag wala naman its either XCS or caltex gold.
Up to now wala naman knocking sound yung akin (2500km + on my ODO)

We were planning to get an Accent sana for our business as service car. kuha sana ako sa friend ko that works in Hyundai. kaso siya na mismo nagsabi na wag muna bumili,may knocking issue sa engine... daming nagagalit at nagrereklamong customers. oh well... siguro iwas bili muna tayo ngayon nito hanggat di pa nareresolbahan ang issue.

sa ibang gas models nila like tucson elantra sonata A-ok daw walang problema.

in a few months, ill be ready to get an econo car for my wife. AT most probably and not above 600K. so I am just curious about the status of this knocking issue. i hope you can answer some questions:

1. at what speed or rpm does this happen?
2. does the sound come out when you are fixed on a gear or does it happen when the car is changing gears?
3. does it sound like accidentally shifting in 5th gear instead of 3rd at 60kph when driving a manual?

Is there any doubt about the fuel quality here?

The advice is always the same... change stations, change gasoline type. It's especially questionable if the fuel has a lot of ethanol additive whether the advertised octane is correct.

My recommendation, if you don't want to muck around with reflashes:

1. Drain your tank. Fill up with V-Power at a trustworthy station. The 96 and 97 RON gasolines of other makers really aren't the same as this gas. Blaze is even better, but some performance car owners actually don't like Blaze because quality differs from station to station. Observe. If no knocking, your car is normal. If it knocks, then there's a problem and your particular unit needs a reflash.

2. Start going down, go from there to Shell Premium... then down to Unleaded. Pick the cheapest gasoline that doesn't cause knocking. It will likely bet 93-95... and even then, the 93s might not work in hotter weather if the alcohol content evaporates or goes stale... so it may be worth mixing it with V-Power or Blaze (the benefit of blaze is it doesn't rely on ethanol for RON numbers).

Simple. Easy to do. And it will tell you if the problem is really with your car or with your local stations.

I can only speak for myself for this one.
Though I didn't bother to try all fuels, what I did from the start since getting the unit was to use only the recommended fuels.

Since upto now ala pa knocking issue yung aking unit, its either that I am doing the right thing or just plain lucky with my unit...

Sir Andretti, what brand & specific type of fuel do you use? I got my accent today and was told by my SA to use Shell Unleaded. Ok lang din kaya ang Caltex Gold since the station is more accessible from my residence. Thanks.

As previously posted, kahit na right fuel ikakarga mo better choose also the gas station locations, yung malinis at di bahain na lugar as much as possible.

Hmm... Naka sked pa naman ako mag reflash ng ecu, i have to ask my SA regarding the resulting lower engine power after the reflash.

Supposedly there was an early issue with the 2.4 and local gasoline. Think it's okay now.

si mon din ang SA ko. Ano sa tingin mo bro gagawin natin sa slow response? di naman siys super slow response kaya lang compared before me nagbago talaga e, subukan ko kaya higher octane na fuel?

bratski, pwede mo naman pa update sa Greenhills yung accent mo a, atsaka sabi sa kin mekaniko lahat daw mg dealer na advise na regarding sa knocking sound kaya cgurado updated na software ng lahat ng dealer

Guys, I have the same problem. Sometimes pagpalabas ng basement parking e parang ayaw na umakyat ng oto. My ECU was reset, updated, etc 4-6 times na and 1 mechanic told me na palit na ng ECU. Everytime na dinadala ko sa dealer para ipaayos e gnun parin, di naman naayos so baka tama nga yung sinabi ng mechanic na change ECU na. Although, parang ayoko na with all the problems I have been reading about the Accent, so ibabalik ko nalang sa kanila and get a refund or a different unit. Sobrang hassle na spending weekends sa dealer na wala namang results at sasabihin pa sayo na ok na and everything is normal! Grabe ang city fuel consumption ko now is about 6.6-7.5km/Liter! Ano to SUV!

I was able to talk to my Service adviser over the phone about the slow acceleration response after the ECU reflash and here's how it went.

ME: Update ko lang kyo about the knock issue with my Accent unit... i don't have the knocking sound anymore after the ECU reset last Monday pero sobrang bagal ng hatak specially from a complete stop and pag paakyat.

SA: Ganun ba sir? humina rin ba aircon nyo??? (alam na alam ah...)

ME: Oo dati pwede na saken 1 lang blower with thermostat at 3/4 pero ngyn i have to put it at 2. Tsaka ung fuel consumption ko e hindi acceptable 7.5 - 8 KM/L (considering na off hours ung office ko 2PM - 11PM at EDSA ang daan ko 90% ng byahe)

SA: (...moments of silence..... ) hmmm.... dalhin nyo na lang dito sir bukas para matignan.

ME: Ok cge dalhin ko jan bukas.. pero pag dinala ko ba jan bukas may solution kayo?

SA: (...moments of silence.....) Sir wala pa po e.. wala pa po advise samen tungkol sa on-going issue ng Accent.. (Paktay tyo jan! )

ME: so wala rn palang ggawin sa unit ko bukas??? cge ddalhin ko na rn bukas para makausap ko na rn kyo about this issue.

Pareho lang tayo ng city consumption pero mas matipid pa nga sayo ng konti. Regarding sa refund mo malabo yan. Although you could be the first. Ganyan talaga in buying an all new model, dami pang bugs and glitches. Mas malaki talaga ang risk.

if the sound is similar to 3rd gear shifting to 5th gear, im familar with that sound. so far, no sounds like that coming from my unit. I remember my getz used to have this issue when I'm using unleaded and not premium. nakukuha sya sa timpla ng clutch at gas pero sa premium/xcs di na kailangan ito. could be a design of the hyundai in general on their engines.
