brembo in germany doesn't know the specs of the brembo brakes that are installed in genesis coupes. big question on where does hyundai sourced out these brembo brakes for genesis coupes.
well, i wont doubt if brembo germany doesnt know about the gencoupe brembo brake kit since they dont have the gencoupe around in their country..
and hyundai could had a deal with brembo to manufacture specific brake kit for them..
the question is where could people in importshark and ebay and the others, got their brembo brake kits for gencoupe?
yeah, wala pa rito...
the fact that they're the manufacturer of these (brembo), they should know. are you telling me that brembo us, canada, germany or other countries doesn't have specifics on their products? my golly...
fyi, we are talking directly to brembo manufacturer here...
their explanation goes like this:
it might be that hyundai is using brembo brakes that are standard to other cars also. so the brembos that hyundai is using is not limited or specially made for hyundai genesis coupe only. if we are going to analyze, it's a marketing strategy for hyundai since anyone who plans to upgrade their brakes will find hard time to determine the suitable brake kit.
but time will come that hyundai will offer discounted price for this brake kit...abangan na lang natin.
Last time I checked, some US sites were offering the Brembo brake upgrade for around $2400.
I think ok na yung price unless may kulang na parts pala.
I asked an SA about whether HARI offered the Brembo kit upgrade for owner's who got the car with standard brakes and want to upgrade to the Brembos. She said that Hyundai can do it, but wasn't sure yet about the cost (most likely a lot more than third party though, judging from previous +300k quotes) and the details without asking the main office.
I went to check out the black Gen Coupe at HARI Alabang. Yep, it's one of the imported Dubai units alright (Arabic writing on the side mirrors), with Brembo brakes. Most likely with track suspension as well. Looks very nice...
No doubt, sir, but I wonder how much it'd cost? Anyone got a guesstimate? Yes, that's a real word, the spell-checker didn't underline it, lol. Also, would third party Brembo brakes be better since the A/T package that comes with it seems pretty decently priced already (as posted above) and they'd fall under the Hyundai warranty. Of course, if you really want an M/T, that choice is not an option.
Ah 3.8 Liter V.6 A/T lang ang mayroong Brembo Brakes..Mukhang strategy to para makabenta nang maraming A/T variants na 3.8 V6.Oh well good move by HARI.
Hehe, it's a good strategy alright. It almost worked on me nga, in fact, I still desire that black GC after going to see it despite already committing to another car. Speaking of which, I post WAY too much in this thread. Wala naman akong GC, baka yung 2015 model nalang kukunin ko when it's time to get a new car again, lol.
On another note, someone in my neighborhood recently got a blue GC, not sure if it's a turbo or V6. Originally, yung blue rin yung kukunin ko sana before I decided to get the LGT. I don't know about others, but it would have been a little awkward and honestly a bit annoying to have someone just a few blocks away owning the exact same sports car. Wala nang uniqueness factor sa aming area. Parang twins, or since I'd get the car second, gaya-gaya ang dating. ehehe...![]()
