Ph16a engine of 96-00 vti is very much similar to vtec-e.

Normal mode is 12 valve operation (1-intake,2-exh per cyl).
Vtec mode is 16 valve with v-tec cam profile same as us D16Y8, activated at around 3.5K rpm.

3-stage vtec has only 2 vtec solenoids.
