I once had a similar car, a '96 CivicVTi (hence my nick). AFAIR, there was shift shock whenever I shift from Park to Drive or from Park to Reverse...although it was very slight. It was the same with an acquaintance's '98 Civic LXi matic when I drove it for a day. If all your engine and transmission mounts are intact and your AT fluid is in good shape, then you have nothing to worry about.
