So wait pa ako ng 2 to 3 wks.

Mali pala :P
aesthetics aside, I personally find it hard to justify the 100k price difference between V CVT and VX models. tatlo lang yung habol ko talaga sa VX model which are center console, paddle shifters, and rear camera. center console madali lang bumili ng aftermarket. rear camera puwede mag upgrade ng HU pag out of warranty, and can just use backup sensors for the meantime. yung paddle shifters na lang wala akong choice.
I've been driving manual transmission for more than a decade and this will be the first time I will be owning an A/T (okay, CVT in particular). for those who transitioned from M/T, how often do you use the paddle shifters? is the jazz's CVT shifting intuitive enough that you won't need to use paddle shift?
Came from driving an MT (91 Corolla Smallbody), switched to City VX CVT (with paddle shifters). If I feel like doing some spirited driving, or going from 0 (stoplight) to 60, i'd switch to 'S' mode, turn off Econ Mode then Hit (-) from the paddle shifters to downshift then step on the gas up to 3000 RPM then hit (+) to manually shift up, once I get my desired km/h, i'd switch back to 'D' mode then turn on econ mode.
The "feel" is not exactly like when you are driving an MT. But you still get to enjoy your car during those "zoom zoom" moments.
I find it useful too when you want to overtake. It gives you that extra control. Especially on expressways. Though I am not saying that the 'S' mode alone is not enough for overtaking (it actually is). It's just more satisfying for me to have a bit more control on the "virtual gears" of the car.
And also, I got used to MT's engine braking. I also do that with my CVT using the paddle shifters. But I always make it a point to assist the engine braking by lightly depressing the brakes itself, so that I could maintain 3000 below RPM, I don't want to damage the engine, since CVT engine is costly.

thanks for your feedback arvs18. I did a test drive a few weeks back but forgot to play with the paddle shifters mainly because I wasn't able to go faster than 40kph in the area due to traffic. like you, I'll probably only get to use it when driving along the highway and/or overtaking. my daily route is paranaque to makati via skyway or SLEX.
You're welcome Sir. Been in that dilemma too before. But It was actually an easier decision for me to opt for the VX of City because apart from the paddle shifters, only the VX and above variants have the Tron like Cluster/Gauges.
Unlike with the Jazz, If I'm not mistaken, even the V variant has the Tron Like Cluster/Gauges.
If you think that you wouldn't really use the paddle shifters that much, I suggest that you just stick with the V variant. Then just use the 100k you saved for the maintenance and upgrades.
I plan to sell the city and since 12months lang warranty ng stock battery ng jazz, mas ok kayang pagpalitin ko nalang batteries nila?
Additional question, how can i identify the type of 3m tint installed. Are there watermarks identifying cs bc or fx series?
latest discount I got for jazz vx is 55k. still undecided though if I'll get red or gray (modern steel). silver sana kaso sa v variant lang available.
saang dealer ser yang 55k?
