Avoid using some cleansing or windshield products, some of them actually have chemicals that cause wipers to shudder.
*alptraum, you can have your windshield detailed pero no assurance na hindi siya mag-judder.
Use Elevo watermark remover.
Then, use Glass Science Scrub every week for maintenance.
If you push through with having your glass detailed, you'll still have to maintain the surface of your windshield. Otherwise, babalik yung wiper judder after a week.
I got my 2014 City from Honda BGC. Halos 4 hours (spread over two weekends) worth of elbow grease w/ elevo watermark remover paste bago ko natanggal lahat.
Pero after that, weekly maintenance na lang ng Glass Science Glass Scrub.
After you fully clean your glass, you have two options:
(a) Keep it as-is. Your wipers won't skip. Pero after a couple of days, road film will start to build up on your glass. This will cause your wiper to streak. But it still won't judder. On day 0, water will sheet on your glass when it rains. You'll definitely need to use your wipers. On day 3...ayan na, some road film has already accumulated. Your wiper sweeps will start to show streak marks. By end of week, you'll need to re-do the Glass Scrub to remove the road film. Not so tiring. Siguro 10mins punas lang yon.
(b) Apply a water beading product (e.g. Glass Science Rain Gel or Rain X or Glaco, etc.) This HELPS prevent the build up of road film! When applied properly, your wipers won't skip. PERO even if applied properly, your wipers will eventually skip, maybe after 30mins-1hr of continuous use. HOWEVER, assuming you've properly applied the product, your visibility will be good that you'll only need to pulse your wiper occasionally on light rain. On moderate rains, you can probably get away with intermittent wiper mode. Using the wiper constantly will erode the water beading product. This will require you to re-apply the product, maybe 1/week if raining.
Personally, I prefer to apply a water beading product on my windshield. Less hassle mag reapply vs. re-clean.
Avoid Rain X and similar products, they contain chemicals that will make your wiper skip. Even tried Aquapel that's supposed to last much longer, it still makes the wipers skip after a while. Plus they are only effective if you drive 80 kph or faster when raining and it's really not safe to drive fast when it's raining. Yeah, it will work at 60 kph but only when it's newly applied, after a few days it won't be as efficient and the more you use your wipers, the faster the film wears off.
