    rule of thumb ko...

    kapag am driving within 80kph - 100kph, dapat siyang tumabi kung nasa passing lane siya.

    pero kung above 100kph naman ako, mag flash lang ako. kung ayaw oks lang kasi above 100kph na naman ako kaya ako na mag overtake. pero kung sure na sure akong below 80kph siya, aba buset siya!!!

    kasi kung may mas mabilis sa akin, tumatabi naman ako sa right lane kahit ano pang speed ko. basta ba mag flash siya ng headlight to signify that he wants to pass through.

    pati dba dapat ang lahat ng PU vehicles ay bawal sa passing lane? maraming ganyan na mga FX drivers!!! mga jeepneys oks naman at nasa ibang lane...

    Mabilis ako magmaneho pero I always give way to the faster vehicle (99 bhp can only do so much). I expect the same courtesy from other road users.

    I was doing 150 kph on the STAR, pero nung nakita kong mabilis yung nasa likod, I promptly moved into the right lane to let him through.

    Pero if someone is doing 100 kph on the fast lane already, I tend not to mess with them anymore.

    dapat kahit mabilis takbo natin eh pag lampas mo dun sa in-overtake-an mo e tatabi ka ulit sa right lane, kahit 200 kph pa takbo natin. kaya nga passing lane yung left lane e para sa mga nago-overtake. pag tapos ka na lumampas tabi ka ulit.

    dito sa NLEX ngayon, 4 lanes na. yung pinaka outer lane walang dumadaan, yung mga malalaking trucks nasa 2nd & 3rd lane lahat.

    60 kph is the MINIMUM speed on the expressway. yung iba kasi ga-tanga ng isip, akala nila dahil "within the speed limit (60 to 100 kph)" sila ay pwede na silang bumyahe sa fast or passing lane (example, "bakit mo ako pinapalayas dito sa left lane e nasa minimum speed naman yung takbo ko, ha???!"). sheesh.

    ideally, the leftmost lane is a strictly passing-only lane, tapos yung middle lane yung fast lane (say, yung mga tumatakbo ng 80 to 100 kph), tapos yung right lane yung slow lane (yung mga 60-80 kph, say). dapat strictly enforced yung passing lane rule para everyone can travel safely at their own pace, no one should stay in the passing lane for a long time; dapat nasa fast lane ka lagi tapos move to the passing lane to pass one vehicle, then move back to the middle lane immediately. kahit at the top of the speed limit ka (100 kph) o kahit overspeeding ka pa, bawal mamalagi sa passing lane (as correctly stated by yebo).

    pero dito sa atin, iba yung nagiging effect ng karatulang "passing - fast - slow" hehe... walang gustong maniwala na mabagal yung takbo nila (kahit kwarenta lang sa SLEX yung takbo!) kaya lahat sa fast lane at passing lane namamalagi. hindi ako magugulat kung yung ibang driver sa passing lane lagi kasi akala nila yung ibang lane ay "failing lane" hehehehe

    from the looks of it, matagal pang maaayos yung road discipline dito sa atin. kamahal mahal ng toll na sinisingil ala namang matinong traffic enforcement! mas importanteng hulihin nila yung mga nasa wrong lane, underspeeding, at travelling on the shoulder bago yung mga overspeeding (which is less dangerous than those three) na tinetyempohan nila sa radar traps.

    this is my pet peeve - in fact, i am convinced that most expressway/freeway accidents are caused by improper lane discipline, NOT SPEEDING. these assholes cause all kinds of swerving to get by them and sooner or later they cause big problems.

    it doesn't even matter what the speed limit is, if the flow of traffic is, say 100 kph, even those going 80 are going to cause major disruption. someone else said that the leftmost lane is for passing only...on the european autobahns this is strictly enforced and followed by motorists - this is why they can go for 180 mph for stretches without high accident rates.

    actually kahit naman sa city roads, nobody here follows the passing lane rule, mga tricycle, slow cars, pedicabs lahat nasa outer lane... hassle sa mga 2 lane roads... slow lane nakaparada mga PUV, passing lane nakabara mababagal.

    di naman masisisi mga nag papass sa shoulder as you said, passing lane and slow lane are both slow hehe, so yung iba sa shoulder na lang overtake, tsaka isa pa, dun sa NLEX grabe ang sama ng daan, e mas maganda pa yung kalye sa shoulder

    Dati kaya may mga mababagal na kotse sa fast lane or left lane dahil sobrang sama na ng daan sa middle lane or slow lane sa NLEX..Ngayon sa SLEX naman wala ng slow at fast lane kaya ganun ang iba...

    Ang malabo pa sa SLEX pagkatapos ng Filinvest papunta ng Laguna eh hindi pwede gamitin ang shoulder for emergency use lang daw yun...
    Ang sarap sabihn dun sa mga nanghuhuli ang dami po kase SLOW sa fastlane at middle lane eh...
