on two occassions, try standing on a trampoline 1) on two feet and then 2) on one foot. observe that, by standing on one foot, you go deeper into the trampoline compared to standing on two feet. this is an analogy of how much pressure impacts the road between a 10 and 18 wheeler trucks both carrying 27 tons...

besides, as the others have pointed out, overloaded trucks are like "rolling coffins" waiting for an accident to happen

they maybe overdoing it for another reason, but as pointed out by the thread starter, 85% of trucks plying NLEX are overloaded. the authorities should really be very strict about this because the effect, among others, will be the faster deterioration of the road which will translate to unnecessary higher taxes & toll fees to the remaining 15% of truck owners & other commuters as well
