Ever hit a person?

Kwento ko lang my experience. I was driving through a busy street in an area na maraming squatter. Mga 35kph takbo. As I was completing my turn on the curved portion of this street, this kid who was facing the other way suddenly bolts righy across my path..and I was only 4-5 feet away! The moment I saw her make like she was going to cross in front of me, I braked HARD. Napa screech pa nga tires ko (even with ABS). The brakes were not strong enough so I hit her as she was crossing. She was hit sa passenger side pa lang (bale, she was hit not more than 2 steps into the street). Upon hitting her, I saw her bend over my hood then fly around 4-5 feet away when the car was able to stop. I sat there in shock for around 3 seconds...then I saw her stand up and run away. Right after that, I pulled myself together and took off like it was Dodge City.

Now, assuming the girl did not stand up and run away..I could have done the ff:

1. take off pa rin
2. go down and take her to the hospital

Thinking back, I would say that I would probably take off. The area was infested with squatters, and going down there would probably not achieve any good dahil mabubugbog lang ako dun.

What do you think should be done in this situation?

i would have taken the girl to the hospital, hit and run is a very serious offense and mas lalo ka mabubugbog nun instead of doing the right thing of taking the girl to the hospital. Malaki nga lang yun pwede mo magastos but your conscience will be at peace. Buti na lang nakatakbo pa yun bata.

it really makes me mad whenever parents just leaves their kid roaming around the streets and not thinking about the safety of their child.

as a driver, you should always anticipate that everybody around you is a dumbass so expect them to do stupid things

i was....pero ganyan din ang nangyari..tumakbo din yung bata...
i was overtaking this Bus na naka hinto tapos biglang may lumitaw na bata na tatawid nabigla ako kasi bigla syang lumabas coming from the front of the Bus
kita ko talaga medyo pipilay pilay pa yung bata tapos tinabihan ko..tinanong ko kung ok lang sya..sabi nya ok lang daw sya..tapos tumakbo na...pero natakot ako hanggang makauwi ako ng bahay...baka nasaktan talaga yung bata..

Sorry to hear about that sir Driv3er. Did you check if there was any damage to your car bec if there was then the car would have absorbed most of the impact thereby lessening her injury to most probably a mild contusion. Nevertheless she should be taken to a nearby hospital quickly for a complete scan before anything else gets worse for everyone. At least you were honest on this forum about it which goes to show that you might have h&r, but returned for her anyway. Though 35kph on a bend nearby a populated area

no damage sa car naman po. and she ran away so even if I wanted to help out...i wouldn't. Anyway, sa sobrang takot ko, nanginig ako at hinataw ko paalis..baka kasi makuha pa plaka ko and pagperahan ako or something kahit na walang nangyari sa girl (she ran away so I assumed she wasn't hurt).

Hmmm, di po sir por que nakatakbo sya she's unhurt.

Kasi baka meron palang internal bleeding. slow death yon if ever (wag naman sana).

parang yung nabalita sa tv na lalaki, nasagasaan sya, nakatayo pa at naglakad pauwi. after one hour, nangisay na lang. DOA sa hospital.

hopefully di naman ganun nangyari. i drive by that road regularly and wala pa naman ako nakikitang nagtayo ng wake dun sa usual area na may wake sila.

be careful when driving thru a squatters area.

I remember Jessica Soho's old show where they featured this modus operandi of squatters where kids intentionally having themselves hit or sideswiped by vehicles and ending up with the driver being mulcted out of his last cash in his possession by the squatters.

IIRC when they featured that, Jessica Soho's team went to that squatters area where motorists complained about the mulcting. Jessica was driving an AUV and at a very slow (read snails) pace.

Out of nowhere, there was this kid who ran in front of the vehicle being driven by Jessica, mabuti na lang alerto din si Jessica. When the footage was replayed in slowmo, mapapansin mo yung bata talagang nag-aabang ng sasakyan na mabagal ang takbo.

According to some residents there, gawain daw talaga yun ng ibang squatter family para mang kotong ng mga unsuspecting drivers. Even the parents of the supposedly victim is part of that modus operandi.

Syempre nga naman, kung ikaw maka-bundol syempre you will get off your vehicle to check, once you get off the vehicle, paiikutan ka na ng tambay, tapos makikipag-areglo. Kapag di ka nakipag-areglo dun na nagsisimula ang intimidation, since you're in their territoy, ano pa nga ba ang pinaka magandang gawin kundi ang makipag areglo na lang kesa naman magulpi ka.

Yan yun na aalala ko na feature sa show noon ni Jessica Soho.

hindi pa naman (thank god) .. pero naranasan ko na binangga ng tao ... there was this one incident na pumasok ako sa kalye namin .. may tao nasa gitna na kalye naglalakad hindi nakatingin dahil may kinakausap kaya halos paatras kung lumakad .. so tumigil ako kung hindi tatamaan ko mga 3 meters pa layo .. pero hindi pa rin naka-tumingin yung tao .. nung malapit na siya .. bumusina ako .. parang tumalon na palaka .. exacto sa kotse ko .. hehe

that happened to me before. May bata tumatakbo paputna sa auto ko while looking behind his back. So I stopped sa gita ng road para di ko masagasaan. The kid still ran towards me..di ko na binusinahan...kaya sapok siya sa front grille ko :D After that, takbo nanaman siya...paalis.

meron mga mild bumps lang. sa street namin, paglabas pa lang ng gate. nasa 1st gear pa ako noon so sobrang bagal pa. this guy was walking in the middle of the road at may kasama siya. busina ako. tumabi yung kasama niya. siya walang pakialam. busina ulit ako. wala talaga. nagbreak na ako pero malumanay lang habang bumubusina. wala pa rin, ayun, natamaan siya. pero sobrang hina lang. may gana pang tumingin tapos yung kasama niya tatawa-tawa lang. mukhang mga factory workers off to work.

marami mga mild bumps sa mga siraulong pedicabs and tricycles along abad santos highway (opo, highway po!). hanggang recto/binondo. biglang tatawid sa mga intersection while naka-go ang lane namin. grabe talaga. lalo na sa gabi yung mga tricycle. tapos pag bumusina ka, ang lakas pa ng loob na sila ang bubusina sa iyo.

me, i was drunk. driving at around 65kph mc arthur hi way. diko nakita yung naka motor. walang ilaw. inovertake ko yung truck sa shoulder pagbalik sa lane. may motor pala na ilaw. diko gano nakita nasa blind side kasi. (yung bakal na naghahawak sa roof) mabilis pangyayari. tumama ulo sa hood tumilapon ang motor at ang matandang naka motor. nagstall yung engine ewan bakit nagstall. tapos start ko ulit. dalawa tumakbo sa icip ko. tatakbo ako or dadalin sa hospital ang injured. sa sobrang takot tumakbo ako. nahuli din ako sa may intersection kasi agad nakapag check point. yari ako hehe... may nakapagsumbong pala agad. ang bilis ng check point.
