Advice ko lang sir batang_raon14 that the implementation of traffic laws around this place however clear or vague they might be, are still dependent on whoever is enforcing it at that time. Attempting to counterflow out of your own accord will draw a violation anywhere, while in some instances and areas a third lane is encouraged by some enforcers to ease up traffic on intersections and bottlenecks. The key my friend, is if an area is unfamiliar to you, stick with the book and not the vehicle in front of you. Otherwise take note of the enforcer's own custom-made system. In the Philippines, one stoplight is different to the next. Unfortunately this does not apply to high profile dudes.

Now, eto nangyari: Since 4 lane ung daan (2 papuntang taft, at 2 pabalik ccp). May Ford Explorer (pick-up version) na nag-occupy ng 3rd lane (which was supposed to be para sa mga pabalik ccp). Eh since naka-open windows ko (tumigil kasi buhos ng ulan nun at tipid ako sa aircon dahil malamig na), couldn't help but overhear what the enforcer told the driver. Eto sabi: "Pano nyan counterflow ka? Violation yan eh... tabi mo muna ha?"

WTH? Then I checked the LTO website regarding counterflow as a violation and what I found were violations that could be connected to the case but this is what I found weird. Can you consider it as counterflow if:

    1. No traffic was directly against the lane taken by the SIR which just followed the EXPLORER.
    2. The SIR was half inside the proper lane (dahil sagad na nakagilid ung mga sasakyad sa right-most lane); and
    3. How come the SIR was halted while the EXPLORER wasn't? To the fact na dalawa silang pulis na nandun nung time na yun?

Could anyone shed some light on this? TIA.

You could tell by my sig na nandun lang talaga ako nung sinita siya. =D
Sir, yung center line separating the two-way traffic ay solid white ba? If solid white, you should stay only in any one of the two lanes assigned to your direction. Kung lumabas yung gulong ng car sa solid center line as in the Honda SIR, then it is a violation. It may not be called 'counter flow' but it is a violation.

    President
    Senate President
    Speaker of the House

correct me na lang if I'm wrong.

    at chief justice.

    driving against traffic.

solid white ang center line dyan. that intersection sucks big time dahil sa counterflow, ok lang sana kung kakaliwa ng harisson kaso padiretso din yung nagka-counterflow.
kung brown yung nanghuli, pasay traffic yan. AFAIK, manila na yang intersection na yan.

Yes bro ang counterflow traffic violation sya at hindi lang sya traffic violation the vehicle counterflowing is endangering the lives of other people kaya iyong 2.5k na multa eh chicken lang, dapat lakihan pa.

Huli talaga yun! You're not supposed to go against opposing traffic. Even if you're only half in the opposite lane, violation pa rin. If your lane was half taken by a car on the right, then you should've stayed behind the car that was half in your lane.

Yung malabo lang talaga dito selective enforcement kasi. Dapat talaga pati yung explorer hinuli din.

Is Counterflow a valid traffic violation?
