Yes. Happened to me several times already. I get bumped off on a flight, they rebook me for the next day, but also give me cash.
My friend actually does this on a regular basis. Almost all his vacation flights are from CEB/PAL overbookings.

December 29th, 2014 02:07 AM #266Yan po ang common notion. Pero if you will check po, kung hindi ka naka piso fare at you will be getting the regular fare ng CebuPac, halos same price lang. Sometimes more expensive pa. Props to their marketing and PR to instill to the minds of the Filipinos that they are the cheap-fare airline.

Yup kaya yung long planned travels makakamura ka sa 5J pero kung malapitan na might as well canvass muna with PAL and compare.
Meron nga kami byahe once sa sobrang advance namen naibook sa 5J muntikan na namen makalimutan na may booking at byahe kame.
Twice na ako nakakuha mas mura pa sa PAL kesa 5J yung mga biglaan na book and buy.

It is repairable. But as oj88 mentioned, it is messy (when repaired) and best used as a last resort.
