Yup, we have the same sentiment that several factors affect when a belt needs to be changed... What rang a bell on my mind was that I was promptly told a set answer without the car or it's history first being assessed.

but i guess 60k is a pretty close estimate however you look at it I guess roads and traffic here is crappy... don't know how long that old lady was in the car idling in and out of traffic with the A/C on.

if you want a second opinion I hear speedyfix does a good job with belt replacements.
