With the sentra series 2... you'll have different possibilities for mods too.
-looks (body kit, lowering, sunroof, SE-R look, etc)
-audio (subwoofers, amps, etc)
-power (bolt-on IHE mods, turbo, engine swap to SR20DE or DET)
Bolt-on IHE mods can achieve 125HP (from stock 110HP) but fuel milage will go down.
Bolt-on turbo was available from taiwan based around a garret turbo. Power increase would be between 150 to 160HP.
Engine swap gives you 140 to 145HP from the SR20DE. SR20DET gives you 190 to 200HP stock.
ghosthunter,
magkano usually aabutin pag nage-engine swap to SR20DE?

SR20DE engine and tranny would probably cost around P40K. Add P10k to P15k for labor and misc parts.
Cheaper than turbo or nitrous.
SR20DE can achieve 160hp on standard bolt-on mods.

My advice would be... if you already have a budget for a second hand car, you better have at least 10% more cash ready to get things fixed. An old car is an old car, sigurado one way or another you need to fix something, from regular items like tires (which will cost you 1500 +/- each), underchassis parts, oil change, tune up, registration, etc etc... Easy 10K additional...
It's very common for first time car buyers to focus too much on the purchase of the car and not the other associated costs with it, they usually end up neglecting their ride for several months (while saving up to get things fixed), but during those neglected months dumadami ang problems.
As for choices, if you dont have a good list of parts supplier and a trusty mechanic, stick with "common" models like Corollas and Lancers...
Note that don't take hints like "ah madali lang naman ayusin yan, mura lang pagawa yan" easily, if it's really that easy to fix, ask them to fix it first before you get it, kahit bayaran mo yung price na pinagawa nila coz there are a lot of troubles that snowballs without you knowing especially aircon and electricals...
The guy might intentionally load up the AC with freon the day you test drive the car, tapos yun pala may sayad na system nya or major leak that wont hold the freon for more than a day or two... sayo sasabit, mahal pagawa ng AC so be wary.
Basta my best advice is dont rush, madaming nagbebenta ng kotse, get the one that you have the least compromises... Kahit magdagdag ka konti mas sulit kesa pagawa ka ng pagawa, lalo na kung nasiraan ka at natow, 1200 agad yun sa MMDA...

hi there,
was in that position 8 months ago.
the advice already given here is right on the money. if your budget is 130K, try to buy something na mga 110K to (at most) 120K price only. you WILL be spending money on fixing things, it's a given.
ako sinagad ko budget ko, tapos mahal pa parts! :P kaya ito, paunti-unti kong pinapalitan yung parts na worn, nothing serious but the end result is, no budget for goodies like better sound
like everyone else has said, toyota is your best bet. pero kung 120k lang.. AE92 lang yun. di ka makakahanap ng 120k na AE101. pwede rin lancer itlog. pero (opinion ko lang po) parang medyo matagtag ang older na itlog. plus, palit ka shocks (10k+ agad yun).
now that i've been through the experience once, alam ko na lahat ng dapat hanapin sa kotse pag bumili ka ng used. pero a quick rundown --
1) you have to have a 100km PMS done. this will cost you 6k (for a toyota AE92 or similar) all the way to 35k or more (kung sa casa pagawa). this means, replacement of most wear items, timing belt and bearings (ito yung mahal...)
2) you might have to have your engine mounts changed. cheap, or expensive, depending on the car. mahal mahal ng orig na engine mounts. if your car has *no* replacement engine mounts (like mine...) mga 8k din ito...
3) you probably will have to have your shocks changed. 10k agad ito.
that's assuming walang sira ha.. these are just wear items. kung meron pang sira.. dagdag pa yun.
What do you guys think of this alleged defect of the 2017 a/t models? ...
