Ako for safety and Comfortability I just put it in N and engaged handbrake. Hindd naman siguro masisira agad, anyway that's what I've been doing and never had a problem with worn AT whatever that's called.
I just don't want na umabanta unintentionally dahil nasa gear pa, minsa kasi na tataas ko yung tapak sa preno...so.

Same reason with shadow, which is why I have already developed the habit of putting it on N during a stop. This also got me thinking that "how long before the friction bands are damaged"? I had an AT which I sold after 80k kms and it was still fine. I use my AT at around 10k/year, so in 20 years, 200k kms, baka mas worn out na ako by that time kesa sa friction band.

January 26th, 2018 10:13 AM #23i prefer N to brakes.
i have changed my brake pads twice, but i have never had occasion of thinking about changing my friction band yet.

January 26th, 2018 10:30 AM #24Yung 95 honda ko nasa 150k kms na, wala pa naman problem sa friction band kung ano man yun, madalas N+handbrake para makarest paa, minsan naka N pag incline pababa para iwas gas, heavy traffic na stop n go kahit D at brakes, either way wala naman naging issue, dahil sa kalumaan mas mauuna pa kelangan palitan mga oil seals/oil rings atbp

January 27th, 2018 11:57 AM #27Mine's CVT.
Stop and go traffic, I just stay in D then step on the brakes. If my leg and/or back gets tired, I switch to N then handbrake. If traffic is moving but is moving really slow, I sometimes switch to B (engine brake, same as L1 or L2 in conventional AT I suppose) so the car doesn't accelerate but moves in a slow, steady crawl.
