no, no. daimler/chrysler owns part of mitsubishi (about 30% IIRC).
BMW is one of the most successful car manufacturers (the majority owner of BMW, some old chick, is Germany's richest person) -- they own (as someone else pointed out) Rover, Rolls-Royce (cars only -- RR also makes jet engines and turbines).

I think #1 pa rin ang GM. Then Daimler-Chrysler or Ford.

also.. Kia is associated with Ford, and Daewoo is associated with GM -- which also owns Opel, parts of Subaru, etc.

the Fiat group of Italy (Italy's largest company) owns Ferrari, Maserati. dunno who owns Alfa-Romeo though..

the "other" big German company is VW of course. they own (in addition to their marque) Porsche+Audi. it's worth remembering that Ferdinand Porsche (who designed the VW Beetle and the German WWII "Kubelwagen" which was their Jeep) also lent his name to Porsche the car company.
