September 25th, 2003 11:16 AM #5sama mo pa sa ford ang aston martin.
chrysler is known as diamler-chrysler. under din nya ang mitsubishi.
ang chevrolet is under GM which also includes suzuki, opel and subaru.
ferrari includes fiat and maserati.
bmw naman has rover, rolls-royce/bentley and the mini cooper.
marami pa yan. dami kasing nalugi at meron namang umasenso kaya nagbilihan or merge sila.
bilib talaga ako sa toyota at honda. kahit nagconsolidate na ang ibang manufacturers solo pa rin sila at nakakacompete pa. in fact, malapit na unahan ng toyota ang ford as the world's no. 2 car maker.

no, no. daimler/chrysler owns part of mitsubishi (about 30% IIRC).
BMW is one of the most successful car manufacturers (the majority owner of BMW, some old chick, is Germany's richest person) -- they own (as someone else pointed out) Rover, Rolls-Royce (cars only -- RR also makes jet engines and turbines).
I think #1 pa rin ang GM. Then Daimler-Chrysler or Ford.
also.. Kia is associated with Ford, and Daewoo is associated with GM -- which also owns Opel, parts of Subaru, etc.
the Fiat group of Italy (Italy's largest company) owns Ferrari, Maserati. dunno who owns Alfa-Romeo though..
the "other" big German company is VW of course. they own (in addition to their marque) Porsche+Audi. it's worth remembering that Ferdinand Porsche (who designed the VW Beetle and the German WWII "Kubelwagen" which was their Jeep) also lent his name to Porsche the car company.Last edited by orly_andico; September 25th, 2003 at 02:40 PM.

Oh yeah. Also, I believe Bugatti is owned by VW, not BMW -- the scary 1000hp W16 Bugatti Veyron uses a W16 engine designed by VW. VW is the only major manufacturer to use W12 and W16 engines (which are basically two shallow-angle V6's or V8's put together). The Bentley Continental uses a W12 engine, they're also a member of the VW group.

Now...
GM is the manufacturer of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Holden, HUMMER, Oldsmobile, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Vauxhall. GM doesn't just play as a manufacturer of vehicles, they are also involved in vehicle distribution (but not manufacture), that is why some people misinterpreted GM as the manufacturer of such vehicle.
but how come Subaru, Fiat, Isuzu, and Suzuki shows up as part of GM's Auto brands in their website?
Because they are the DISTRIBUTOR of such vehicles on countries other than their originating country such as Japan.

It is repairable. But as oj88 mentioned, it is messy (when repaired) and best used as a last resort.
