Ford is perhaps the only car brand I know that's hounded by a lot of recalls and quality issues (not to mention mediocre after-sales customer service)

If you have an ecoboost-powered Fiesta, this video is going to be relevant for you.

The number of Ford owner support groups concerning various issues with Ford cars already tells about the quality of this car brand. Here's one local support group:

Mazda (highly recommended), Toyota, Honda but not Ford for a first car. Consider the maintenance cost and after sales quality service. Just an example, you can't buy non original wiper blades. Only oem wiper blades will fit to Ford sedans.

I highly recommend that you try out other sedans before going for Ford. Try the Mazda2 or Honda City/Jazz or Toyota Yaris. Compare the ride comfort, engine/steering responsiveness and fuel economy.

Ford parts are not that hard to source nowadays. Never had big problems with my Fiesta before aside from the TCM update which was free of charge. Maintenance was just the same as a City or Jazz once you stopped going to the casa. In terms of handling, the Fiesta is out there on top with the Mazda2.

With regards to wiper blades, you can source them within FB groups which cater to Ford cars. I got replacement ones for 1100 (whole set - 2 front blades and 1 rear blade).

If buying a Fiesta, get the hatchback. The sedan looks odd IMHO. The hatchback rides a bit stiff for a subcompact but it drives really well.

So far the Ford Fiesta is the only car brand we experienced such issues in less than 5 years of ownership (we've owned more than 5 cars for the past 30 years) . Just recently the water pump was replaced due to some bearing noise issue. Quality and reliability, how Ford is systematically dodging the problematic DCT, I'd say stay away from Ford. There are better options out there.

Sure the Fiesta is fun to drive. Ride comfort is horrible compared to the Mazda2 skyactiv. The ecoboost engine has a bad reputation when it comes to reliability (see BBC documentary about it). Ford is perhaps one of the few car brands which such bad rep when it comes to quality.

Yeah get the hatchback! I don’t like the looks of the sedan. Parts for the Fiesta is widely available naman na. Merong FordMaz if you don’t like to go sa mga casa. And also sa FB groups.

depends how much you want a fiesta as your first car. nothing wrong with that.

just that you will have most likely have a wider network maintaining a honda or toyota in terms of parts sourcing and also most likely cheaper replacement parts.

2009 i remember a friend forking out 1600pesos (if memory serves me correctly) sa ford casa for a rear wiper arm ng focus hatch just because we couldn't find one in shops maski surplus back then.

The DCT on the Fiesta Sport is the dry-clutch type and only requires service every 100k miles (160k km). If you want the fluid changed, use only Ford-spec DCTF. Do not use any other fluid. DCTF is different from ATF or CVTF.

Go to Powertorq in Congressional Avenue as they are known to cater to Ford vehicles.

If you read it carefully, it is apparent that Ford Australia never admitted that the concerned PowerShift models had defective transmissions - only that they did not handle the complaints in a proper manner. This was a deliberate and calculated move so that the company would not set any precedent for a recall. And all they had to do was address the 10,500 Australian individuals that actually complained about this issue. For the rest that kept quiet, well too bad for them.

Everyone knows that there is a problem with Ford's DCT. As there is no formal acknowledgment or recall from corporate, dealerships continue to handle complaints on a case to case basis. The best you can do is to make your case heard so that Ford Philippines can be compelled to do right by you. Meticulously document this process from the beginning as it will take a while before you get any relief.

Yung reflashing ng TCM delaying tactic lang yan para pagurin at paikutin lang kayo. Escalate your case if the repairs/solutions repeatedly fail to fix or even aggravate the problem. Start with the SA, then the branch GM then finally to Ford Motor Company Philippines.

    Good luck.
