i just got 8.05 with my 5th full tank (sport). the highest i got was with my 2nd full tank 8.9. pure city driving (unless you consider C5 traffic highway driving).

this is a bit frustrating coming from a manual glxi 94 lancer that did 9.4-9.7 consistently.

buti na lang pogi. if i got a vios and got this FC i would be really frustrated hehe.

just a theory... maybe if you are too light footed on the first 2 gears mas masama FC since it stays longer on high revs. this is just for being in the front of a stoplight... when the light turns green... maybe its bad to be super light footed... ang tagal nya sa first 2 gears and it really still waits to 2.5 rpm before it shifts mostly. same thing with going through humps. dami kasi humps sa village.

pag stop go traffic... no choice talaga.

Experts correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK:

Flooring the pedal to reach 3k RPM will drink more gas than slowly getting there with a light foot.

not saying that you should floor it. not just super light that it takes so long to shift to 3rd gear. parang ang tagal sobra sa 1st and 2nd gear when super light footed. maybe light footed is more like it and not super light footed.

nice article... kinda did that with my current tank of gas instead of being super light footed. seems to be better at FC.

im now at 300 km and i still have about 1/4 tank left. all my previous tanks... fuel low warning na at around 280 km so i fill up at around 290-300 km.

Just want to report my fuel consumption/efficiency monitoring:

    1st - 302 km - 36.843L = 8.197 Km/L (Petron Unleaded E10)
    2nd - 326 km - 36.737L = 8.874 Km/L (Shell Unleaded E10)
    3rd - 338 km - 36.140L = 9.353 Km/L (Shell Unleaded w/o E10)
    4th - 394 km - 43.190L = 9.122 Km/L (3.97L of Total Unleaded and 39.22L of Shell Unleaded w/o E10)
    5th - 374 km - 38.012L = 9.839 Km/L (Shell Unleaded w/o E10)

Better figures and hope to break the 10 km/L barrier eventually. Pure city driving.

Halos lahat ng shell walang E10. Mapapansin mo yun pag yung label na yung fuel is with 10% Ethanol ay tinakpan ng bond paper. Maybe because of Shell's pipeline problem - so I don't expect it to last.

This sort of jives with the advice of manufacturers to achieve cruising speed (the most economical speed) and the highest gear as quickly as possible.

Make sense,...until you drive in Manila

    Cheers

for manila traffic, a light foot is more compatible

*spidermonk3y Yep I would have to agree with you since there's no point in gunning the engine if you can't achieve cruising speed anyway in Manila.

Don't know if the same logic works for Fiesta too, Fiesta owners would know what works best...

    Cheers

of course exception yung stop go traffic. but if you are infront of a stoplight... then it turns green and you can easily hit the cruising speed of around 60kph.... why not.

hahaha, yeah i agree i think its the same logic behind the gear shifts for the A/T fiestas (1st and 2nd tend to shift above 2500rpm to get you to a higher gear/speed faster), but not really applicable for manila driving.

1st fulltank - initial load upon delivery
    2nd fulltank - 6.86 kms/liter (Petron Xtra Unleaded - E10)
    3rd fulltank - 7.27 kms/liter (Petron Xtra Unleaded - E10)
    4th fulltank - 8.01 kms/liter (Petron Xtra Unleaded - E10)
    5th fulltank - 7.67 kms/liter (Petron Xtra Unleaded - E10)
    6th fulltank - 7.49 kms/liter (Seaoil Pure Unleaded RON93 - E0)
    7th fulltank - 7.71 kms/liter (Petron Xtra Unleaded - E10) ±0.1kpl variance
8th fulltank - 7.80 kms/liter (Petron Xtra Unleaded - E10) first tank after ECU reset
    9th fulltank - 7.97 kms/liter (Petron Xtra Unleaded - E10)

    10th fulltank - 8.12 kms/liter (Petron Xtra Unleaded - E10)

Woohoo! My best FC recorded yet. I had to bring my son to school at 6:30am during the last 2 weeks of the school year. The pre-rushhour traffic helped improve my FC (but it disrupted my sleep pattern).

*ntlogin, mas lamang pa pala ako sa 'yo. Greenwoods-Ortigas Center ang route ko.

I have consistently achieved around 10km/l on my last 4 full tanks. Although I wish the Fiesta Sport would return more, but I'm perfectly happy that it at least met my minimum expectations . All these were done mostly on my daily Bacoor to Mandaluyong route via Coastal -> Macapagal -> Edsa using Petron Xtra Unleaded.

Distance Traveled - Fuel Economy - Average Speed
    361.7km - 10.39km/L - 24km/h
    345.0km - 10.13km/L - 23km/h
    355.0km - 10.12km/L - 23km/h
    349.2km - 10.40km/L - 24km/h
