How is the Everest as your daily driver in the city?

My current workhorse is a Corolla, traveling everyday from QC to Makati (20 plus km) in hellish traffic through tight streets in QC, San Juan and Mandaluyong. Ok naman, my Corolla does 7-8 km per liter, light and easy effortless drive, but the traffic situation is still draining on me. Last year during the rainy season, I got stranded for almost two hours in a flash flood spot near Maysilo Circle. Hindi ako maka abante kasi hanggang tuhod na yung baha so I just stopped and parked my car kung saan walang baha. During those 2 hours, I said pag nakaipon ako, bibili na talaga ako ng SUV for rainy days.

I have my eye on the Trend. My worry is that if I use it as a daily driver, it may get very tiring to drive, especially with worsening traffic. Of course I expect it won't be as easy to drive as a Corolla, but given the positive reviews about the Everest's easy handling, I was hoping it would be as manageable as a CR-V or a Rav4 maybe? What do you guys think?

    TIA
Bro, the everest is so light and easy to drive! And mataas pa wading depth nya. Ang light ng handling nya. Yun nga lng you will have yo get used to it's big size. Prior to my eve, i drove a sedan so mababa and now ang taas na so parati ako nadadali sa gulong. Ahahahah. Nasasabit parati sa gutter 😂

from backreading this thread, i've read some comments na mahirap daw isara yung tailgate, so far sa unit na nakuha namin walang namang ganung problem. i also plan to upgrade the headlights to the brand mentioned here, yung osram nb. mga magkano kaya aabutin?

meron na bang nakabili nung floor liners ng shark philippines? tried calling them pero walang nasagot, may ibang sources ba kayong pwede ma-refer?

    TIA!
I got the shark floor liner and maganda naman ung fit nya sa everest.

    Another update: 3.2L +

    Went to mnl drom isabela:
FC ko 9.7 kpL, sa nlex 10.4 lng. Akyatan sa bundok ok sya, di sya nabibitin kahit sa dalton pass, napansin ko lang pag naka buntot ka tapos oovertake ka, medyo mataas rpm compared pag hataw ka na. Di hirap makina, relax nga ako mag drive, no need to floor the gas pedal. Ibibigay nya gusto mo. Even paakyat na overtake.

Pauwi after the 1K pms, di ko alam kung lumakas or what. But the whole tplex (dau-pura) 150-160kph ako, wala kang marinig na ingay ng makina, rpm ko nasa 2.3-2.5 lng, di ko pa nasubukan i floor ung gas, even mag overtake. Pero lumakas consume ko sa gas pauwi may bec of the tplex speed ko. Sadyang matigas ung gulong, may be bec of 50series. Over all satisfied ako..

Minsan din mahirap isara tailgate lalo pag sarado lahat ng doors, haven't brought it back sa casa for alignment ng latch.

As for floor liners, cut-out 3m nomad mats gamit namin but you can search for Lamson Digital Electronics sa FB, they have deep dish mats made for Eve and other cars.

Na eexperience ko to sa rear door, left side, di sya kasing swabe ng ibang doors, pwede kaya i adjust ung latch (like ung ginagawa dati da hood, kung mahirap magsara, pwede mo i adjust ung pag lock nya para di mo sya kailangan isara ng malakas para mag close ng maayos..) kasi feeling ko dito nanggagaling ung kalansing na naririnig ko malapit s left ear ko..

Be familiar sa throttle input and engine response para tantiyado tapak/arangkada.

Once you get used to the Eve, I'm sure matutuwa ka na sa kaniya like me. HTH
Thank you so much for your reply boss! I used to have an Expedition, so I used to drive it on coding days. Although the steering was easy, nakakapagod because it's still practically a full-sized American truck. Used to own a CR-V too, so I was hoping the driving experience was the same. Good to know and will expect it not to be the same as the Everest thanks to your reply.

Thank you so much sir! My coding car now is a Chrysler 300C, I did a size spec comparo, and the 300C is 131mm (5" +) longer and 20mm (3/4") wider than the Everest pala. So I think medyo tancha ko na the size of the Everest. Haha, it's been a while since I drove an SUV, so will have to learn it again. I drove a Fortuner for a week a couple of years ago, and found it easy naman.

    Thanks bros!

Yes, yung akin is the same, driver's rear door, minsan di sya closed agad unless i exert a little bit more force. Similar sa tailgate, lagi 2x yung mall security mag close.

parang medyo hirap nga i-close ang rear doors (both sides). could be because of the seal at the fender area. may extra seal kasi duon to prevent splash from the rear wheels from getting into the space between the doors and body. yun naiisip ko na dahilan and not because the doors are misaligned.

I wouldnt worry about (even if its true) na made-in-China Everest nyo. I used to drive my Honda Fit made in GuangZhou Honda for almost 6years. I'd say comparable or better than Assembled in Philippines o Thailand. As long as the local distributor here own's up to whatever design/ manufacturing that may prop up in the future ok lang yan.
