The wife wants one. We'll have to sell one of the cars if ever. But no sense in getting one now as she is WFH.
What's the real world Fc of the previous gen 4x2?

The wife said if we are getting another SUV it would be the Explorer. It’s one comfortable and handsome SUV.
With the 4-cylinder 2.3L Ecoboost engine, you might be looking at around 6 km/L for the usual Metro Manila traffic. The newer one has more power and torque so it might be easier to pull the big mass of the Explorer. I am hoping the 10-speed AT will help in fuel efficiency.
The fuel consumption might not be too different from CUVs with 2.0L to 2.5L NA engines. I can do 7-8 km/L with the FXT on medium traffic with its 2.0L turbo. BGC traffic drops it to 6-7 km/L, even worse on bad days (5-6 km/L). On the highway, it’s between 10-12 km/L depending on how fast I am doing.

March 26th, 2021 10:50 AM #53Expect 4-5km/l on the 2.3. That thing is not efficient whatsoever, contrary to claims of good fuel economy. But you're not buying cos of fuel economy so this shouldn't matter.
Ford supposedly fixed the fumes entering the cabin with an exhaust pipe downwards and a faux tip. That 10R transmission also comes in 2 flavors, but reports of unreliability are still rampant on explorerforums.

March 26th, 2021 11:44 AM #54Ford did not use the 3.5L anymore on the 6th gen. They replaced it with a smaller 3.0L derived from the 3.5L.
Although the 10 speed automatic is shared with the F150, Expedition, Everest, Ranger.

Thanks for the inputs. I'm getting 5-6km/L already from our 2.5L awd Xtrail w/CVT so I think 4-5km/L with this heavier car is more in line with our usual routes.
This thing is thirsty [emoji846]

March 26th, 2021 01:17 PM #564km per liter when i had my explorer but mine was the v6 NA version. Should be slightly better with the turbo and 10 speed. But i doubt it will be 5 km/l. Maybe 4.5 hehehe.
But that thing is so damn well equipped and then all new RWD platform is much better apparently (handling, packaging, towing, strength).

5 km/L would be a good approximate. The newer engine has more power/torque thus not much need to push down on the accelerator to move that 2-ton frame.
I guess that’s about the same as the CX9 and Ascent.

That is big dyan lang sa angle na yan but dun sa side view sa article it's long and wide.
I'm getting 6 to 7 km/l on the 3.5 V6. Computer says 7.6, purely city driving with 40% highway no traffic here in uae. It's thirsty because of the heavy body. Better mileage siguro with the new engine.
