To those that changed their mags, nagpalit din ba kayo ng wheel nuts? Also are hubcentric rings necessary?
Yesterday, my 2-month old Ranger took one hell of a beating.
A couple of friends and I were looking for somewhere different to go on a Sunday and we decided to head up to one of the waterfalls here. It was an intermittently rainy day but we carried on through the rough roads. Unfortunately, before we even got to our destination, my truck got stuck in the mud.
We tried a lot of things to get the truck out but the rear wheels were stuck. Initially we buried a lot of rocks on the path of the tire to give it traction, but the tire just scraped through it and all I got was a tire that now has 20% less tread than the other 3. Upon seeing some stray sacks of cement, we tried that too but the tire just ate it. Lastly we tried setting up a path of wood for the tires to grip on, but it was too slippery and I was just burning out to no avail.
As night fell and with the rain still pouring, I had no choice but to ask a friend to rescue me in the jungle. Montero Sport GLS SE saves the day.
Lesson of the story? Sometimes you need 4x4. All my ground clearance and torque was useless since I had no power going to the tires that had traction.

One thing you can try in this situation is deflate the tire that has no traction gradually and try until it grips. You can also drive it backwards and forward randomly to help the tires grip and also load your friends on the bed to give more weight on the rear axle I wonder why only 1 tire is spinning our truck usually has limited slip differential, is you Ranger Auto or Manual?
Yup bro I also tried making my passengers sit on the cargo bed, and I tried gaining traction by going forward and backward but to no avail.
I considered deflating my tires but since there weren't any gasoline stations nearby it would be difficult to drive back home had I been able to go out.
My Ranger doesn't have LSD which is why I couldn't get it going even if one of the rear tires had a little bit of grip. It's an XLT MT btw.

Bro sorry for asking if it's auto or manual didn't notice the clutch pedal from my cellphone... It's good that your "call a friend" option is very reliable
It happened to me one time on off camber loose rock terrain but the LSD worked upon sensing that the other tire started to spin. From then on I
became confident with my truck and sometimes I just put it in DRIVE and let go of the brakes to let the engine's torque pull smoothly from a
slippery surface without spinning the tires.
Better tires, definitely.
Never a good idea to take a heavy rig without decent tires out on a muddy trail. Too many ways to get stuck.
Sometimes, even if you have 4WD, which is why we never go out without a recovery truck.
At least if you have FWD, rocking still works.Sometimes.
