Haven't personally experienced it. Just read it in the forums like here in tsikot, as well as internationally like BITOG.

Like sir said, it's not only with the oil used but also on the filter as well. Sometimes even if it's oem, it doesn't mean it's the best.

There were also fake castrols sold in auto supplies that didn't deliver like the original.

IMO the statement is inconclusive (no offense meant).

The Castrol Magnatec A5 is one of the oils approved by ford for the Ranger (refer to manual). Heard from SA that they recently pulled out shell and voltronic from casas. Not sure tho kung may natira pa sa ibang centers. Not sure also if this type of oil is available locally in suking auto supplies.

i dont think this type of oil is readily available in the local market yet

i agree that there are other culprits (eg diesel fuel, engine oil additives added to what is already packed in the oil, fuel additives) to consider in the sludge build up on a diesel engine. in order to come up with a conclusive finding one can only engage in the process of elimination by doing away with some items not necessary in the combustion process such as the utilization of additives. that leaves the essentials only like the fuel & engine oil, by using a cleaner fuel like a euro4 type will help isolate the problem whether its the engine oil or not

in all these the original proposition of collecting used oil sample after an oil change & checking what you find in it afterwards still stand

I tried inquiring locally, hindi daw available. Sabi ng ford SA, sila lang daw ang mayroon. I saw it by the drums sa shop nila.

Agree. But I told him dahil sa layo at gastos na magpaservice di na bale ma void warranty ko so I might try an equivalent oil of known brands that meets the specs like that of Castrol.

You may try liquimoly 5w-30 oils as they are also ford certified (as per manual specs Ford WSS-M2C913). Mas maganda yan IMO kaysa Castrol. HTH

Yes. Avoid free car wash offers at dealers. Sometimes, they're not free at all as is the case with some Toyota dealers. Check your bill for car wash charge.

Same statements mentioned to us here in FORD CDO. Curious lang, how come our FC, even on a highway is still quite high, like 11-12L/100km. While on traffic (moderate to heavy) a steady 12L/100km. Btw, our unit is a 6 month old XLT A/T.

I wonder if it will still look good on 18's. I prefer more rubber for protection.
