do you have difficulty understading "tagalog" or maybe not understanding at all?

do you understand "balang araw matutunan mo rin"?
if not the english translation is "bullet sun will learn you too" (.... joke...)
OT
He He. Let's just say a 3rd grader has better Pinoy grammar than me.

So long as the words aren't too deep, I can grasp much of the Tagalog here (sort of). I don't think in Tagalog. If I try typing in Tagalog, it takes a while. It's simply more practical for me to type/write in English. But time to time, I do practice my Pinoyspeak here.

Add: I asked my wife to help out. But, she's more interested in teaching me Waray.

It was by chance for me...

When cellular was booming in the US in the 1990's they needed RF engineers who have experiences in wireless design and optimization. So some consulting firm from the US went to the Philippines to interview some qualified applicants.

Nagkataon na I already worked for 2.5 years on one of the cellular providers before as a technical assistant (not even an engineer pa due to 'office politicking')- so I submitted my resume and got interviewed at the Manila Peninnsula hotel. Na-alala ko pa na nasa tuktok ako ng isang cellsite tower working on the antenna when I got the call on my mobile from the American HR person that I was hired. There were around 40 of us out of 200+ who applied that got hired. 6 months later, I was on a plane bound for the US.

Working Visas, plane tickets, moving expenses as well as $150 pocket money where all shouldered by the company. The firm also have 2 mos. free of apartment lodging for us when we arrived in the US.

Immigrant bro, - One of the arrangments sa contract was the company will then sponsor us - as permanent resident dito sa US after 3 yrs. (when the working visa expires). Mas madali kasi i-process ang working visa before (3-6mos. total) rather done do the resident/immigrant visa kaagad..
