As for Pinoys being discriminated against.... If a Pinoy doesn't do anything about it and just tolerates it, then that person gets what's coming to him.

Of course in a country composed of many different races and ethnic origins, some discrimination is bound to happen due to sheer ignorance. Although I don't tolerate it, I can at least see why it may occur.

What I can't understand and a lot harder to explain to my daughter is why many Pinoys look down at each other, be it rich vs poor, light-complexioned vs dark-complexioned, smart vs not so smart, or even which province one is from. I'm personally dealing with the last one because my wife is from Leyte and my mom absolutely hates "Bisaya". Why? For the love of God, I don't know. But, that's the way she is. She's Cavitena by the way. She's not alone. Many there talk about "Bisaya" like it's a name to be loathed.

I also endured being looked down more in the Philippines than here. Maybe it's because I was too quiet. At least, it didn't stop until I got into fisticuffs with the local kids. I eventually settled in ok. But, my early experiences were bad enough for me to ensure my daughter finishes her schooling first before my wife and I entertain any thoughts of living in the Philippines. As I've said before, I have no intention of exposing my daughter to the nuances of the Philippines, especially when she has a Bisaya-hating grandma over there. It's sad. But you know, I'll do what I think is right.

dagdag lang na tanong he he he, nakakalito lang.

kung greener pasture lang ang pinag uusapan (canada, US, UK etc etc), how come there are still americans, canadians or british, portugese (tama ba spelling?) na nakikipagtrabaho pa sa ibang bansa din?nope, they are not from a corporation po.

more than half of my college friends are now living / working abroad, some in the US, a lot in Singapore, a lot in Canada and some are in Australia.. isa lang sinasabi nila.. madali daw umangat ang pamumuhay if you are earning abroad.

it's more of a "need" sa karamihan ng mga pinoy. it's for a more secured future for their family.

my family belongs to the upper class of philippine society.....we have a lot of rental properties in metropolitan manila and a sizable business but I still chose to migrate here in the US last year even if we literally dont need to work a single day for the rest of our lives....my wife and I just got our greencards last month by the way

why did I chose to migrate inspite of my mom's reluctance to support my decision? well it is because I would have more business opportunities if i plant my roots here....it would be difficult to establish a business here without being an immigrant here in the US.....of course, i also want my future children to be US citizens.....i have always been an advocate of the saying: "Dont put all your eggs in one basket".....if something bad happens in the philippine economy, at least our family could draw income from our earnings here in the US and that is what my mom could not understand

in short, so nag migrate kami ni misis mostly dahil sa Pera

While the most prevalent reason for immigrating is for financial reasons...... I hope they also have a clear understanding that it also means giving their allegiance to whatever country they immigrate to.

One day, the country they're in may require their services. For example, the draft and serving in that country's defense.

My Mom needed to donate her kidney to my aunt (her sister) that's why we migrated here earlier than expected. I love the US but i will never ever forget my roots, my culture and where i came from.. PI

We all feel the same way. For me, it's a love/hate thing with RP (say a 90/10 split ) because both the best and worst times of my life were there. But push comes to shove, our a**e* belong to Uncle Sam. I hope that's clear to you.

Most of my friends financial ang reason and future of their kids. Some want to have a life of their own. Minsan kasi may mga parents na overbearing, (good intentions naman minsan) pero you really have to find your own road.

45:1 us dollar baby!

pano ba napapamahal ung isang tao sa isang bansa? is it because he has a good life in said country? is a country(or, more accurately, the government) worth loving if it doesn't make the lives of its citizens better?

i guess alam nyo na ang sagot ng mga nagmigrate(at magmiigrate) na. medyo ok kasi ang status namin dito...pero kung nakikita kong nagugutom ung pamilya ko....to hell with nationalism , mas love ko pamilya ko B)
