why do people migrate?????say you migrated to the US or anywhere (no relatives), first problem will be the house/apartment.second maybe the job.You and your wife can't look for a job at the same time due to your children.Say the man finds a job, the money he is earning will still be a dollar to dollar. Then there goes the need to work for more than 8hrs to compensate and so on and so forth...just asking

better kasi na magtiis sa US kesa magtiis dito. well, if i didn't finish school and earning just around the minimum wage. heck, i'd migrate to the US given the chance. at least there, magsipag ka lang, kakain at kakain ang pamilya mo 3x a day. dito, and hirap maghanap ng trabaho. bagger lang sa supermarket, kelangan pa college level ka.

    some reasons:

-better income (at minimum wage, at least you can pay your overheads)
    -better future or opportunities
-better environment (less crime or simply cleaner place)
-clean start (maybe to forget some bad history)

seriously, the only problem in pinas is money.as long as you have the money and a business everything follows, good education for your siblings etc etc..mas maganda yatang maging pasyalan lang at source of income lang ibang bansa.

Someone told me that it's better to be treated as a first-class citizen in a second-class country, than to be treated as a second-class citizen in a first-class country.

I think the primary reason is monetary gain.

I have to agree w/ Bogeyman's post. A friend of mine once told me: "Bro, mahirap makibansa..."

It's not love, it's need, and the necessity to think about the future of both one's relatives and one's children.

    It's not just purely money.

Generally, more advanced countries usually have better social discipline. By this I mean yung pakikitungo sa ibang tao such as road discipline, social courtesy, etc. The US has very low tax levels compared to other countries, and the social security system takes care of you very well. Here in Manila may VAT tax nga at ang laki-laki pa pero saan napupunta? It should be reciprocated back right? But no, it's not.

Plus, when you earn money, you are treated with respect and they do not abuse your being an employer, and if they do, you can do something about it. Dito sa Pinas maraming power tripping, and it's hard to get around that. If you earn here, proportionally the same as you would in other countries but in other countries you still have money to keep whereas yung money that you save working sa Pinas kulang-kulang pa and you have to squeeze as much as you can with that limited amount, or worse, compromise other needs just so you can get by.

Traffic conditions can be similar but most of the time it's much worse in Manila lalo na yung rush hour and the constant lack of discipline of other drivers. If you complain here it's highly unlikely something is going to happen. But if you complain in other countries you can rest assured that something will happen at least. I've had a few encounters with reckless drivers and my course of action was to call the CHP (California Highway Patrol) and they've responded quickly most of the time. Of course during rush hours I try not to call them dahil busy rin sila for other more important things such as accidents, etc.

Another thing is you get to do things yourself, which can actually be done sa Pinas but it's too tedious and difficult considering na it's hot and humid. Weather also plays a role. I know a lot of people reside in Daly City sa Northern California where it's cool and breezy (by the bay). A lot of people also live in West Covina which is a nice place.

Nothing can replace the pakikisama of Pinoys especially when you have a large group of friends, that's what a lot of Pinoys miss (so they say). But we must accept the fact that Pinoys are clingy and because of this they usually group together so Pinoy neighborhoods are common. But this also brings their old bad habits too and some people don't like that.

Sorry just by 2 cents' worth so I hope that somewhat gives you an idea of how it is.

This mass exodus really makes me sad i have lost many friends already.
Ok naman sana sa Pinas kaso ang labo labo ng mga politico. A lot of investments by the billion dollars goes to other countries because of them.
Contracts signed by past president are not honored by the next. Sinong investor naman ang may gusto nito. Sorry O.T. na

Im not a migrant worker nor am I staying in abroad. But people take the chance to migrate to another country to seek better opportunities. Yes, it may be true that life here is easier. But the fact still remains that compensation for local workers is low for you to be able to attain your goals like a decent home, car, etc. But some of them end up being beggars in abroad literally. While some fortunate people manage to attain their goals in a short span of time. Just like my friend who is now residing in SOuth Africa. He and his wife (no kids) is just around in their mid 20's but they were able to buy themselves a house and 2 cars. BTW, ford fiesta and a ford focus 6speed tdci pa.

I guess your question is addressed to people who have children or a family who experience sheer difficulties along the way. Well that is the price of having one without counting the cost.

'why do people have/need to migrate' would have been more fitting.
