I was expecting na by this time eh 90+% na ng mga sasakyan eh may oil life % display .Years ago nun nag work ako sa Saudi is may mga vehicles na meron display and that was way back early 2000's. I remember a customer asking me bakit below 20% nalang un life eh aside sa less than a month lang un change oil at na rest nmn un minder - ang sagot ko - may driver kaba na madalas nag hihintay sa iyo while the engine is running?

I suggest buying the cheapest synthetic oil from a legit seller. Change oil and filter max every 6 months or check your owners manual na lang po for the recommended interval. Mas mura po ang langis keysa engine.

You can always play it safe and follow the manual to the letter, but that also means adhering to the "X kilometers or Y months, whichever comes first" condition.

So, do you replace the oil with only <1,000km after 6 months?

Has anyone gone through a UOA to find out the OCI sweet spot for their specific engines?
Kahit naman sa casa magkakaiba rin sagot. Nun nasa Saudi pa ako un bnew na Camry is walang change oil sa first 1k KMs. Samantala dito meron.

Nadala ko rin yun sasakyan ko dito (not Camry) balik sa casa after 6 months with less than or 1K+ KMs pa lang in between. Sabi nun gumawa, malinis pa daw, pero syempre void ang warranty pag hinde ko nmn pinagawa.

Ilang beses ako nag pa UOA (Camry - Saudi) pero just to find the oil's performance. That time, since nasa oil company ako eh libre UOA. Dito mahal ata.

    an auto authority once said,
use cheap ordinary mineral oil and change it every 5000 km or 6 months.
replace oil filter every other oil change.
expect your car's engine to last 500K km or more.
use synthetic oil if you want to splurge.

Adding around P200 to P300 per liter every oil change by using fully synthetic oil is considered splurging?

I don't believed in semi-synthehic oils. It's either mineral or fully synthetic.

If you have the money then use FS kung wala naman eh di mag mineral ka muna.

    Parang panloloko eh.

You're changing the oil in casa, that's the problem...

I get 4 quarts of a well-known brand of fully synthetic oil for around P2,300. I buy a legit oil filter for P500, and P80 for the crush washer. Then I let the oil change be done in a petron service center for only P250 for labor.

    P2,300+P500+P250+P80 = P3,130 total

it was just P1080 for the oil change package, before they switched to shell

it was idemitsu mineral oil (vtec lev 10w30) and mahle filter. i used this oil exclusively for 17 years. then i sold the car with zero engine problems

moral of the story: don't overspend on motor oil. when it's time to sell the car all than fancy expensive oil makes no difference to the selling price

    "expensive oil"

Guys using mineral oil are saving like, only P20,000 to P30,000 in a span of 10 years.

so you went from saying that FS is absolutely necessary to saying that it's ok to waste money as long as it's below a certain arbitrary amount

that's not really a valid argument. bro

Nah man, I didn't change my stance. I would still use FS oils for my personal, utmost peace of mind.

I am just reacting to people saying they save money by using mineral oils. As if naman ganun talaga kamahal yung synthetic oils.

Petron car care center din? Yup P250 lang labor sa kanila dito sa amin for oil change. Kaya nga di na ako nag DIY. 😂

By the way, magkano ba liter ng mineral oil ngayon sa shops? I'm seeing upwards of P300 per liter sa shopee. medyo nag mahal na din ah.

May Petron near my old place but I don't know if it's a car care center, pero may service bay sya, 300 din sya back then. So I presume 600 na rin sya as all the talyers around him are 600.

Kaya nga if I buy oil, filter and crush washer outside mas pag mahal pa sya ng konti sa Honda casa na mineral oil package, because of the labor. Kaso, sa labas, I don't have to wait too much kasi ako na agad.
