Owner's manual or warranty guide will instruct users to have their PMS at a recommended mileage or a fixed period, whichever comes first. Some people have two or more vehicles where one gets more mileage and use compared to the others. The less used car will reach 6 months before even hitting the target mileage.

I understand the need to have a general check-up for the vehicle every six months but do I really need to change oil as well, especially when I'm using fully synthetics and heavy duty oil filters (i.e. baldwin, fleetguard, donaldson, etc.)?

It seems to me the advancements in oil technology, like making it last for 10k km to 20k km (e.g. Mobil delvac 1) is defeated by the recommended oil change "period".

i follow the 5000K policy, and not the 6 mo. policy.
    it's cheaper.

Trailblazer requires every 10,000 kms, except the first which came at 5,000 kms after delivery.

Less than 3,000 km per year lang ang mileage ko for gas-fed car. I change oil every 12 months using Semi- or Fully Synthetic oil man, does not matter.

We follow the mileage. Have a 3rd gen Honda whose first change oil at 10T kms was done after 5 years with 12T kms on the clock.

Eh ano ba talaga? will they drop your warranty if hindi mo sundin?

i have a new car at ang sabi ni honda 10k KMs or 6 months which ever comes first.

twice a year PMS only! sabi ng honda

malabo ako maka 10k KMS by june. Ang ending ipasok ko pa din dahil 6 months na.

if i follow by mileage will they take it against me if i will claim for warranty?

papi pag under warranty pa "whichever comes first" yan to preserve your warranty. so kahit di mo ginamit ng 6 months, zero mileage ka during that time, ipapasok mo pa din for PM just to have your service booklet stamped by the casa.

shift to my brand and my casa.
i have no problems with them, even if i change oil every 5000K.. it takes me a year to reach that.
you can imagine, i did only 15K when the engine warranty expires after 3 years..
    heh heh.

It may be ok with them until you make a claim for warranty for engine problem, have you?

Parehas tayo. 6 months yung sinusunod ko dahil pag mileage sinunod ko at idahilan nila yun pag mag claim ako ng warranty, patay na ayan na sakit ng ulo

Simple lang naman yan. Kung brand new car at under warranty pa, follow the regulation of the casa. Normally, "whichever comes first" ang basis nyan.

Kung tapos na warranty, discretion na ng owner kung ano gusto nya gawin. Refer to Oil Change Interval chart on page 1.

I checked my warranty booklet for my Kia. Dalawa lang naman conditions that will void my warranty.

"The following conditions will render the warranty Void:
    1. Failure to have the prescribed preventive maintenance service of your vehicle for every 5,000 km (diesel) or 7,500 km (gasoline) interval.
    2. In case of engine performance problems, failure to have your vehicle serviced or repaired by an authorized Kia dealer."

Wala naman mention na mavoid warranty ko kung di ko ipasok every six (6) months. hehehe Tapos kung "engine performance problems" kailangan casa magrepair. Other matters pwede pagawa sa labas. hehehe

Just follow po yung 5000KMS change oil period.

Low mileage din kami, once a year lang mag-palit ng engine oil, minsan lagpas 1yr, (max of 1yr and 6months)

saka use the fully synthetic oil, kahit approved for 10K KMS period for change oil, instead of 10K PMS, sa 5K PMS ang change oil period.

Before using the vehicle, during cold startup, warm up the engine until na umabot sa normal temp before driving.
(bihira gamitin) and once in a while, kailangan din biritin yung engine/transmission ng maximum RPM, (wag lang redline) para ma-exercise yung engine, at ma-fully lubricate din yung engine internals by means of maximum oil pressure (perform with safety caution) and also, same din sa transmission.

pag dating naman sa under-chassis lalo sa mga bearing at brake system, kailangan mag-repack lalo pag nalusob sa baha and dapat sundin yung 6months time period PMS both under-chassis at brakes, lalo kung bihira gamitin, tendency is mag-stuck up yung mga bearing dahil sa accumulated dirt particles at rust.
