are you sure overhaul is required? assuming nag sludge nga engine mo, have you tried having the oil pan removed and cleaned the strainer?

madami na cases that required only cleaning and dismantling the oil pan,scraping and cleaning out the gunk.

have you done compression test on the engine?

Ang nangyari ay bigla nalang tumigil ung car habang dina-drive ng pamangkin ko. Pina-tow nmin ung car hanagang sa talyer. Sabi ng mechanic kailangan daw i-top overhaul kasi nabali ang mga valves at rocker arms. Pinagtataka ko, hindi naman napatid ang timing belt bakit kaya tumigil ung car at nasira ung mga rocker arms at valve? Please share your opinion and thoughts po... Thanks in advance!

If your car has 4af series engine, it will not get damaged even if you cranked the engine without the timing belt.
If your car is equipped with a 3e engine, the valve/s will collide with the Piston/s when the timing belt skipped or broke.

Mga sir gandang hapon po! Sorry po newbie lng po pagdating sa sasakyan. I am driving a mazda 3 2004 model. Tanong lang po if may idea po kayo kung mgkano po mgpa top overhaul and san po kya may maaus na talyer at idea po kung magkano abutin? Recently po kasi nag overheat ung sasakyan ko and kala ko po dala lang ng leak sa water overflow reservoir which napalitan ko na po ngaun ng bago but still unti unti pa rin po nauubos ung tubig sa reservoir. Tapos po knina pag check ko po sa oil dipstick at engine oil cap may sludge po na prang kulay gatas po. Sabi po ng friend ko bka may tama na daw head gasket ko. Sana po matulungan nyo ko. Mejo tight din na po kasi budget ko.

Ask na rin po sana ako if safe pa po ba idrive ito? Right now po ngsstart na po ako mgipon ng pera dahil ang sabi po sa akin maghanda na daw ako ng budget at mahal daw po mgpa top overhaul... please po tulungan nyo po ako.... salamat po

Gusto ko lang malaman mga lodi kung accurate ba yung ganung assessment para mapagawa ko na din. Mahirap kasi ang overseas kailangan pa e utos eh. :-(

It's too early to overhaul unless napabayaan ang maintenance ng makina. Pero overheat may be caused by radiator problem kasi tapos yung namamatay eh baka sa fuel injection system. Try to get a second opinion, dun sa mapagkakatiwalaan niyo na shop. Yung marunong sa modern CRDI injection system ha, hindi na kasi mechanical injection yang Alterra afaik.

Berrima is a good shop imho. Search mo na lang sa net ang address nila if sa Manila ka.

if they can not specifically pinpoint the problems...
maybe they're guessing...?
i don't know...

have other "experts" see the vehicle. get a second and third opinion.

befriend alterra club people. perhaps they can point you in the right direction.

Hello newbie here i have lancer 95 glxi ang issue ko naman is nag eemit ng white smoke and parang nag ddrip ng tubig ung tailpipe ng itlog ko. base sa nabasa ko sa thread na to tinignan ko naman lahat dipstick as is walang something unusual na mixture formation radiator cap as is den walang any kind of formation tpos natry ko din ung buksan ang radiator cap then start ng makina di naman bumulwak ung tubig. i'm planning na i pa compression testing pero wala kong alam na malapet sa makati. ansabe naman ng mekaniko dito samen eh change oil tpos lagyan daw ng additives para mawala ung smoke. di kaya may tama na ang head gasket ko? btw magkano magpa top overhaul ngayon?
