A top overhaul is like major surgery you know...

Top overhaul consists of changing piston rings, refacing or replacing valves, valve guides, replacing cylinder head gasket.

Piston rings will not have to be replaced if the oil consumption or compression problem is diagnosed from cylinder head parts such as valves or valve springs.

There is something called a general overhaul where in every part of the engine is taken out, inspected and or replaced.

- since sa casa mo ipapagawa, IMO halos parang back to OEM specs yan in terms of performance and FC. Definitely a big improvement from the current state ng tsikot mo since kelangan nga ng top overhaul.

top overhaul means what reym just posted. you'll be having a close to brand new engine condition. consequently, improved performance, FC, etc.

Hi. Regarding top overhaul:

May tagas ng langis sa ilalim ng makina. Maraming shop na pinatingnan ko at pare-pareho sinabi nila. Sa cylinder at gasket daw ang problema (posible rin sa valves).

Pina-engine wash ko at wala namang tagas sa ibang lugar.

Presyo sa Shell Meralco, Marikina:

Top Overhaul labor - 2800
Machine Shop (cylinder refacing) - 5000
Parts - ?

Mga 10k daw ang damage. Sakto lang ba to?

Magkano ba cylinder gasket? Replacement vs OEM?

the story is this sir... my wife want to repaint our advie model 2000 pero bigla kasi niya pa check lahat ng puwede ayosin sa casa sir, late kna alam na top overhaul gawin...
it has 150K sa odo...

Hello po mga sir, Una po sorry for necro'ing a post but I'm new in the forum and I still need 5 thread reply to create my own thread. I posted here since eto po yung topic na most relevant sa problem na na-eencounter ko ngayon.

About the car, It's Nissan Sentra LEC 1992, carburetor, manual trans and my area is San Pablo City, Laguna. Last July 21, 2015, pumalya yung 2 sa spark plugs nya so I made a replacement with new sets of spark plugs and nag-okay na sya. Pero 12 days later (2-days ago) ay ganon nanaman sya so dinala ko sya sa mechanic and I found out na may oil leak sa isang spark plug plus naging mausok sya, white yung usok nya.

I was thinking na pa-top overhaul ko na sya, change cylinder head gasket and piston rings. And my questions mga sir; Do I or not really need to top-overhaul my car's engine? If ma-top overhaul sya, will it solve the oil leak problem sa spark plug? Mawawala na kaya yung usok nya?

Have your vehicle compression tested first so you can determine what exactly may be wrong; a wet and dry compression test will say if its your piston rings or gaskets that are busted.

Sorry for late response on this question. But as they say, better late than never.

Anyway, pwede mo rin muna palitan yun oil seal nun sa port ng spark plug na apektado. Easily accessible at surely na mura lang at hinde ka na gagastos ng pang top overhaul.

Hi, this is also my first time here, good thing may ganitong forum, sobrang dami ko natututunan...4mos na kami ng mitsubishi lancer 97 ko and may mga sakit ng ulo nadin bnibigay saken but I think normal yun dahil 2nd hand ko na sya nabili.

So far, maganda performance nya, kakapalit ko lang ng fuel pump kasi nasira last week. Aircon compressor nalang problema ko and top overhaul (daw).

Please advice me guys re top overhaul, kasi everyday naglalagay ako ng tubig sa radiator ko para di mag over heat, advice saken ng ilang shop na napuntahan ko is top overhaul nga daw. Tama po ba yun?

Tsek mo oil cap mo kung may halong white color ang langis, kung meron dapat na nga top overhaul yan kasi naghahalo na langis at tubig dahil may tama na ang water jacket. Base sa experience ko lng.
