significant changes mas mararamdaman mo pag out of town ka, last time 500 pesos ubos route ko taguig - calamba laguna - taguig using petron XCS nagkarga pako ng 200 more, last trip ko same route ulit 500 pesos using petron XCS may natira pa sa gas ko, lumakas din hatak niya, so masasabi ko talagang nakasave ako I dont know if the oil did really help me but what Ive done so far is just change my oil to RP its really worth a try

wow over 200 pesos saved on the same route! Laki ng savings mo. How was the traffic situation? baka naman walang traffic kaya ang laki ng difference?

Pls keep on observing and keep us updated kung ganito parin after several trips. Big help satin kung talaga makatipid ng gas.

I will also update on my FC, but last tuesday when nagpa full tank ako 9.3 kms/ltr ang computation ko on my CRV, basically same route...4 days lang ginagamit in a week...

to be precise 303 kms. ang tinakbo ko last week then full tank ako last tuesday morning ng 32.310 liters..so lumalabas is 9.377 kms/liter...

I just don't know if it's because of RP oil kasi basically pag bagong change oil & tune up gumaganda talaga ang FC.... but napansin ko talaga mas smooth ang engine ngayon ang mas magaan then yun transmission mas malambot din pag shift ko now compare before, coz I also change yun transmission oil ko rin ng RP syncromax..

by next tuesday update ko ulit yun FC ko...

btw, 10W-40 pala ginamit kong viscosity, sabi ni speedy fix mas maganda ang FC kung 10W-30 ang gamitin next na change oil ko yun naman viscosity gamitin ko...

yep 10w30 or 5w30 should give you better FC compared with 10w40. Those 2 are energy conserving oils.

whats the viscosity of the oil you used to have?

i wonder if someone who used to have 10w40 oil and use the 10w40 of RP, will RP still be more efficient?

hindi kasi magiging apple to apple ang comparison kung higher viscosity oil ang gamit before then 10w40 ng RP gagamitin. because generally speaking, 10w40 viscosity will render better fuel mileage than 20w50.

meron na ba sa atin ang may direct comparison between say 10w40 of RP and 10w40 of another brand in terms of fuel consumption?

Galing ako kay Speedyfix kanina. nagpa change oil na ko ng Royal Purple 10-40. mas smooth nga ito as compared sa Motul htec, pero my initial feeling is comparable sya sa mobil 1 full syn. Nung na drain yung motul oil ko after 10k kms ay medyo malapot na sya unlike sa dating mobil1 ko na maganda pa din after 10k kms.

    washburn, that's great news!

shadow, thanks for the updates! sulit yung syncromax right? super recommended ko yun for all honda manual tranny's.

wrcastro_ph, the reason malapot yung motul is because it has lots of detergent properties kaya kuhang kuha yung dumi. better to keep the dirt in the oil but it also gets "malapot" earlier. kung at least once a year or every 10k kms naman palitan it should be ok.

yup, sulit na sulit...kahit mahal yun syncromax....hehehhe joke

question migs, bakit yun RP darker compare sa ibang synthetic oils? diba kasi we have an impression at least for me that new oils should be almost clear yun color

another observation is yung motul after ko mag start ng engine ay may blink sa "oil light" ng panel pero mobil 1 and now my RP is wala naman. kita ko nga yung synchromax transmission oil, baka next time akong mag change oil ay sabay palit ko na din ng trans oil.

Migs, ilang kms ba recommended na palitan ang trans oil? nasa 30k kms na kasi yung sakin, balak ko sa next 10k ko palitan which is aabot na ng 40k.

shadow, not sure if you noticed but the RP oil is dyed purple talaga when you pour it from the bottle. same for the gear oil. this is to ensure the customer he is purchasing the real deal. after a while, the dye dissolves and you can see the clearer color na when you pull the dipstick. it's still not totally clear but that is normal lang. medyo madami shades for the oil talaga from totally clear to some that border closer to brownish even when brand new.

wrcastro_ph, 40k is the normal interval recommended but some opt to go sooner at the 20k intervals. it is really up to you since you can't change it too often naman

had my weekly gas fill up today...ganun pa rin 302 kms and tinakbo then full tank ko is 31.44 liters so FC is about 9.6kms/liter...

migs, so if I use yun 10W-30 I should expect better fuel mileage from what I'm getting now?

10W-30 is fuel effiecient tested on cold climates like US. because its lighter compared to 40. if you planned to change oil let say every 3-4 mos. ok sya gamitin sa tignin ko pero if going for long change intervals mas ok yung heavier oil like 40-50.

reason for this is climate(sobrang init dito sa pinas) and traffic. an oil weight at 30 is too thin to withstand too much heavy traffic on a hot climate like philippines, you'll get the engine exhuasted.

    ganito yon in short:

QUALIFYING: 0W,5W,10W-20,30 (yan pwede kasi 1/few laps lang) doesnt required long race laps

RACE: they opt for thicker viscosity like 20W-50,60 (30-60laps of full racing)

wrcastro_ph, parang nadaanan na namin lahat nun ah. hehe! RP has the most comprehensive lineup of viscosities to choose from which is why it's pretty impressive.

simplicity, you're best off using the 10w40. yup we have it and pwede yan viscosity sa promo.

snowbound, RP syn oil is 440/liter, RP XPR racing oil 850/lit, syn ATF 650/lit, syn gear oils 700/lit.

mbeige, yup meron. look for the 15w40 viscosity oil. complete API certification for diesel engines
Where's your shop located & what's your contact no? Do you do change motor oil, ATF oil & gear oil?

mikbik, actually we don't have problems with the 30 weight oil kahit pang araw araw dito. we've even taken a couple of the cars with the 30 viscosity oil to the track and run them over numerous laps without problems.

if the oil you use is thermally stable and does not absorb a lot of water then you will have no problem using it every day kahit na extended drain intervals of 10k kms or 1 year. royal purple is made of group 4 base stocks and if any oil can take the abuse of stop and go traffic, the occasional hataw and even fun runs and track days then this is it. most other synthetic oils in the market are made from only group 3 base stocks which is why they are not as stable as royal purple.

17M, the contact number is in my sig, the address and directions to the shop are in my website (in my sig), and yup we do all of that work

thanks speedyfix, i'll bring my accord next oil service & for oil pan gasket replacement [sabay]. Do you have the gasket or should I bring one?

Do you recommend RP for my 2000 Starex TDIC? What will be the oil change interval? [Now using Petron Trekker every 5K] How about for my '03 Trooper 4JX1-TC - it's casa maintained [ouch] & using Besco every 5k.

That is only applicable for OLD engines.

For relatively new engines most can handle 10W-30 or 5W-30 even with the higher temperature here in the Philippines.

Again, the oil viscosity rating / recommendation varies from vehicle to vehicle. For example in the Rav4 2.0L, the 5W-30 is recommended for cold climates while 10W-30 is recommended for tropical climates.

The weight of the oil isn't the sole basis also for determining its protective characteristics.
