AlsmostLooks like they were made at the same place. Almost.

This one is the Saudi made

This is the Indonesian made one so looks like the one you got is the real deal and I would go with that one, Never seen a fleetguard with a orange antidrainback valve. The no country of origin thing on the filter is pretty much a no go on any filter I get. And the plastic only on the bottom is a Fleetguard no - no.

Could just be the angle that the valve looks black? Plus you can see the filter media in the Donaldson and it looks fairly tightly packed.

Clearly from how these are packed, you can also tell this is a legit filter, fully sealed, proper codes on the filter and box and clear country of origin on filter.

We know Donaldson makes the filters for Amsoil and they do use a orange ADBV. Plus the packaging on that Donaldson is legit and has all the proper markings on it.

I would feel pretty good about using this Donaldson. They are 98.7% efficient *35 microns and 50% * 20 microns on that model.

Its getting frustrating finding these quality filters. It really makes sense to use them, but whats frustrating is its availability and those authorized retailer selling the fake ones also. Wix has limited supplies, volmax has no stock, pacer im hesitant to buy from them, w&L has not yet given me feedback regarding the parts i inquired..... maybe for the meantime im gonna settle with Bosch filters.
Nakakainis nga volmax. Kung ano pa yung maraming sasakyan dito, yun pa wala sila stocks. hayyyzzz...

The lower the nominal micron rating the better filtration right?

This is a bit longer, cross with BD7095, fits 4m40 as well as 4m41. This is a heavy duty filter so i guess filtration is better?

Yes, the first one is 50% efficient at 6 microns which is impressive the other is only 50% at 30 microns so it's most likely around 98.7% at 45 microns. It will still catch particles at lower microns but not as efficiently.

The first is also a much better bypass model, it's the one with the microglass media the other is a fuel cellulose, but you might have a length issue on that big one but it would give you double the filter life easily and extend your oil changes out due to it's size.

I did find this online. Looks to be close to the 51809 size though I can't tell exactly. Note it says for 10000k oil changes. Its a direct cross for the BD7028, which is still about 2 inches shorter than that WIX. I found those WIX for around 9USD.

thats exactly the same part number that the dealership provides...

the thing is, the dealership service recommends the replacement of it every 5000kms...even though it indicates 10k kms...

You'd be the judge on how much money the dealership service makes.....

or maybe, they are aware that it cannot perform well until 10k kms?

the dealership really doesn't get the income much from selling a unit...
most of their profit comes after the sales- "the warranty period wherein PMS is done"...

The Dealer is all about making money, they tell you 5000klm so you will come back to get charged for labor and other fee's plus the oil which is also marked up.

    [QUOTE=dvldoc;1897255]Excellent Donaldson cross reference.

Doc, i saw a filter in this PDF that's rated at 99% efficiency at 5 microns!!!!

Doc, i have a question, im planning to install a Parker Racor fuel filter with part # S3216-S it is rated at 2 micron!
    Parker - S3216 SERIES

Im planning on modifying my fuel lines so i could thread it to the filter head assembly that is matched to the RAcor filter, do you think it will not that be restrictive on fuel flow??
its rated at 20 GPH (76 LPH)... im interested to install it cause of its 2 micron rating, and i know racor filters are good, what you think Doc?

Depends on the vehicle, in most 4cly turbo diesels a 25gph CAV filter works just fine with no issues, Just make sure it's the flow pattern if your using the stock spin on location. Many are outside in flow.

I'm still working on something to put inline, I would like to ditch the stock set up all together.

    Denso version.

sir, what kind of oil would you prefer for my old 3CT engine?
i read the whole thread and it seems Mobil1 is used most of the time according to others. would you suggest the same to an older turbo diesel?
help needed for my lucida is due for change oil this week.
btw: thanks doc for the mail you sent last time, i will be going to the baldwin supplier tom.

If your going to stick with 8000klm to 10000klm Delo 400 would probably be my top choice, second I would be looking at ZIC's Diesel oil. But you want at least CI-4, CJ-4 or CH-4 rated oils. There are also other good brands out there, Mobil TDT is also good, but price wise it gives no big advantage if your changing your oil at under 10000klm to 12000klm.

what do you mean Doc by outside in flow pattern?? how to determine the flow pattern?

For instance most Toyota and Nissan JDM diesels have a opposite flow pattern vs a regular filter. If you look on Baldwins site they have it stated.

Descriptions: Fuel/Water Separator Spin-on with Threaded Port
    Notes: Inside-Out Flow Direction
    Contains: Port Thread: M36 x 1.5
Fits: Nissan, Toyota Automotive; Toyota Lift Trucks
This does not apply to inline options just doing a direct spin on replacement.

Most people go this route and just mount a CAV style filter after the main one.

Doc, if the fuel filter says; FLOW DIRECTION ( outside/In) could be used in a normal traditional fuel file system,?
    Assembly Part Number: FS1241B
    Filter Element: FS1241

    Filter Specifications
    • Emulsified Water Separation: 90% per SAE J1488
    • Free Water Separation: 90% per SAE J1839
    • Efficiency: 98.7% * 25μ * rated flow per SAE J1985

    45 gal/h (170.34 L/h) Spin-On Fuel/Water Separator

another thing Doc, is it ok to use Diesel fuel filters like these on a gasoline engine? are fuel filters for diesel also suited for gasoline engines

Remote bypass oil filtration
