dvldoc, comparing again RP 15W-40 and Mobil 1 TDT with Motul Specific CRDI Diesel, are they on the same league? Almost on the same price range, 450 to 600...TIA.

Both those oils are good, but unless your running these at least 15000km your really wasting your money, A good group III oil will be perfectly fine especially if your only doing 10000km to 12000km oil changes, There is nothing that shows Group III cannot last just as long as Group IV true synthetics like Motul, Mobil and Royal purple.

Here is a interesting oil study done by the state of Californa with royal purple

Hi Doc...Been constantly reading this thread for quite some time now which made me realize how important our oil filters and of course, the oil we use itself...previously, im using full flow replacement oil filter made in korea and ZIC RV 10w/30, API-CI4/SL for my starex at a 5Tkms interval...Recently, im using the same oil and Bosch OF 313 made for Pajero 4M41...Why I use the one for pajero? Because i got it 100 pesos in a dept store inventory sale! Worth the try! But now, im very curious with the baldwin filters and i want to try it soon...My question now is given the same oil i use and if ever, baldwin filter, can i use it in a 10Tkms interval? Thank you very much for your help and please continue to educate us all!

Your just wasting money if your not running a BD28 at least 10000k to 12000k. It has 3 to 4 times the dirt holding capacity of a OEM filter.

Hi doc, long time no post..

Am i also wastng money if im replacing my oil filter 3 times in 10,000kms (or every 3.33k kms)?

Im using Mobil TDT, my filter is Baldwin B233 full-flow.

I'd like to know if frequent filter replacement would help in delaying the very dark oil. My EGR is already blocked and i have oilcatchcan but it seems the oil is still dark. Or maybe because my oilcatch can is not working well.. I checked the turbo and it has some traces of oil but not as many as before i had the OCC, seems youre right about crankcase vapor something has to catch it alongside with the surface of the can.. I installed a pleated media on OCC to see any difference.

Your absolutely wasting your money run them both 10,000kms. Some vehicles will have black oil no matter what unless you have true 2 micron bypass filter. Cumming diesels here in the states turn the oil black in 1 day even with a synthetic media filter. That's just how it is. But they still do 12000km oil change intervals.

Thanks doc. Maybe thats just how CRDI's is, non CRDI's are not as dark as observed.. And gas engines remains as golden oil for a long time.. I'L just stick to 5k filter interval on manual just to be safe.

it is a cartidge filter body, you can find it at Ace Hardware. Best installed reverse that of the water filtration normal use. Just insert a tube/pipe to direct the flow downwards first before it exits otherwise it'll just short circuit the flow. The objective is for the blowby containing mist will downward until the bottom and when it it flows upward the oil droplets will be left behind by gravitational pull. The longer cartridge the better.

    I concur!

but bro, if you've only tried motul Crdi specific, the engine noise is a little bit lesser...if it wasn't for the availability issues of my "unofficial dealer" I wouldn't have change brands... the price of the CRDI specific from the official distributor is just plain expensive! thats why I cannot push myself to buy from them...luckily there's TDT... though there's a bit of an increase in engine noise, but Im planning to add the molybdenum additive from liquimoly to compensate the engine noise....because from what doc said before as I recall, Motul's higher moly content might be the one causing the smoother sound than that of the TDT...

yes, exactly, because they have a local distributor.....unlike TDT, it isn't carried by exxonmobil philippines which favors us deeply...

The engine was quieter bro when I used RP. Acceleration also is very smooth, very tempting always to press to the metal...Yun nga lang, it is P600 per quart compared to the P450 of TDT. Motul now has dropped it's price to P600 also for the Specific CRDi...

Hi Dvldoc, do you have a direct comparison of these 3 oils' Moly, Calcium, Zinc, Phosporous and TBN?
    - RP 15W-40
    - Mobil1 TDT (5W-40)
    - Motul Specific CRDI Diesel (5W-40)

*dvddoc everytime i'm changing my oil i always think this video is this true??? Mobil 1 put 1 million kilometers on a Mercedes-Benz engine then broke it down to see how the fully synthetic motor oil did in leaving minimal deposits and minimal wear on the engine, demonstrating how Mobil 1 will allow an engine to operate in like new conditions through an extended test length.
