Nippon oil filters, seem to be pretty well built and about on par with Purolator and standard Bosch. There filter for the 4M40 is only ok though since they still use basically the same type of filter element as the lower half of the filter instead of coiled or stacked disk media. The OEM Toyota filter is better in this case. But there normal filters appear to be well built for normal oil change intervals.

Basic Nippon

Lots of fakes out there so look for this label.

8000km on this one still looks good,

The 4M40/4D56 filter from Nippon guts.

Oem filters tend to have the a much better bypass filter section, but still a good quality filter for 8000km to 10000km use.
