Now I wonder why I get better fuel economy with Mobil than Zic....
    ....now the plot thickens......
    Mobil1 has better additives.

Im not really impressed with the zic x7.

My unit uses Mobil Delvac MX 15w40 then I switched to Zic 10w40. My fuel economy dropped by approximately 1km/L.
All other things are the same, only the oil was changed.
    I can relate.

I tried using zic's fully synth motor oil for my k20 petrol engine one time and it did consume a bit more as compared to the mag 1 fully synth my fd2 regularly uses.

I guess the motor just wasn't hiyang w/ the sokor made lubricAnt.

do what you gotta do so you can do what you wanna do

My Grand Starex is currently using ZIC X9000 15W-40, my FC improved significantly from a dismal 7 km/l to now at 11 km/l, thats based from a 490km trip to bicol. My previous oil was a delo semi synthetic 10W-'30.

Theres also a noticeable increase in power using shell vpower.

not all 40weights are the same.

I see. So the higher the viscosity the better the FC mileage? I will revert back to Top 1 SDO if this is the case. I'm also eyeing Zic semi synthetic for my D4-D in my next oil change is the viscosity of Zic higher than Top 1? will it give me better FC mileage? As this two oils have a lower price than other semi synthetic that I know of.

I use Mobil's extended performance synthetic oil and Mobil or Fram extended performance filters. Oil change interval is 1x a year.

The manual just state the compatible oil grade such as 15W-40 or 10W-40 etc.... and the API rating that's it. But in reality the viscosity, oil brand or type affects the fc mileage of your vehicle.

higher viscosity means its thicker. thicker oil at operating temps will affect fc than thinner viscosity.
